Mobile portability - MTNL Delhi to Vodafone

Hi

I am trying to port my MTNL No. to vodaphone but the sales person are saying that it is currently not open as SIMs are not available for portability.

Is it true?
 
Lies. I'm porting my number from MTNL Delhi to Vodafone as well and the local recharge wala didn't have any trouble helping me out. Already received the new Vodafone SIM.
 
Its true that MTNL doesn't allows to Port ur Mobile no. to any other Network as I know so far... Bcoz One of friend had tried 4 times to Port his MTNL to Vodafone but it didn't Port till now
 
Not true at all. You can easily port from your MTNL number to any other service provider. My friend switched from MTNL to Vodafone :D

Thanks guys. I have now got the SIM and the No. has been given for activation and it will take 1 week for it. Hoping for better services...
