This looks really great. It was understood that these netbooks are a breed of their own and using any scaled OS was never a good idea. So this Intel initiative is very welcome. These guys are right in line along with Google with their Chrome and Android.

Can someone who is currently using a netbook try this and post results.

This looks very userfriendly.

:)

Lets not forget other netbook OS candidates like Android for netbooks, Chrome OS, Nokia QT/Maemo based stuff and so on... (can we even count in Win7? heh)... even Kubuntu started a netbook project based on KDE/QT netbook efforts, im looking forward to that one...

Nice cluster/zoom animation in the second video at 3:50 :)

Personally I dont like the Netbook form-factor... I really like one of the first hybrid "MID" (mobile internet device) designs like the HTC Shift HTC - Products - HTC Shift - Overview (before there was a MID named category started by Intel)...

What it should be:

HTC Shift-like device with capacitive touchscreen (and on-screen keyboard) with a slide-out keyboard for better typing only when needed.

The software stack I think the most promising are this Moblin, Nokia's upcoming stuff and any KDE/netbook based platform like Kubuntu Netbook project (and Ubuntu Netbook Remix UNR and EasyPeasy need to improve a lot)...

Android/ChromeOS/Win7/WinMo7 while cool, I doubt will make it big due to the platform either being closed or too new/different...
