hiya all i know this is not an appropriate section to post my querry but where elsr can i have more techprowess then TE in india atleast to solve my current problem- dudes i have an old p3 fujitsu 6357 laptop with ati rage mobility card of 4mb , 2x, p3 500, 64 mb soldered ram and 128 mb,i wanted to sell this but recently (thus mods close my thread in market sec to sell this piece as it problem ridden now)after the rains an unusal problem cropped up (no rain water seeped in) the display start from bios and even in the os is garbled and flickers a lot , so i opened up my lappy as a true TEite and tried to troubleshoot it felt that display cable must have got loosened (this is the first time i have opened up a lappy and belive me its not as easy and exicting as our desktops) so found out none ,all were perfectly fitted then i searched for rams beneath the keyboard i removed it and cleaned it up even then the problem persists now i am in a dilemma sud i remove the soldered ram or sud i flash the bios , but still havent cornered out whats the problem as one of my friend suggests that the ati memory chip which he had overclocked must have crumbled , well is it so or what sud i do nxt i want to salvge my lappy as i really loved the piece a lot plzz hlp sos........

If the card has a video out, try connecting to a monitor and see if the problem persists. If it does, then it's ur LCD that's a goner. Seen too many of such problems when I was a Help Desk Eng. for HP Laptops. Also try removing the battery and hold the power button for a minute. This would help in removing any issues caused by static elec. Try these 2 and get back.

Well first of all. Remove the possible suspects one by one. First, check the memory. Get memtest86 and run it to rule out a possible ram failure. Then do a thorough scan of the hard drive and see if there are any issues. Third, as freaky suggested, connect a monitor to the vga out of the lappy and check if there are any issues. Also if the vram or whatever is still oc'ed, clock it back to defaults.

well tried the video out thinggy but same problemo on the monitor and by the way have pulled out the memory and cleaned it and reinserted it but sud i also do with the soldered ram and by the way freaky do i keep on pressing the on button with the mains on i.e, on ac well i think so, but u r the expert so better get it confirmed thus guys wat nxt now still havnt checked the memtest will do and let u guys know

No. No source of power should be connected to the laptop. Sorry, should have mentioned that too. Seems to be a Vid. Card issue. But try the power drain.
