Mogu is a known Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Apart from the weird name (not for the Chinese), nothing else will strike your head apart from the usual "It's a Chinese company" line. Well, that's where Mogu steps it up by announcing that it will launch the world's cheapest phablet running Android OS for a mere $48. So why should we be interested? That's because Mogu will bring this product to India for about a mere Rs. 2,500 only.
Mogu S1 phablet

Mogu's S1 phablet will make an entry into the Indian market some time next month, and boy will it make waves. The S1 phablet will pack a 5 inch display, 1 GHz processor as well. That's where everything you want to know about the device ends. Perhaps the price of Rs. 2,500 is the only reason anybody would ever consider this product. Even then, we gotta hand it to them. A budget phablet, is something many people want. For Rs. 5,000 you can't have a phablet. Well, Mogu aims to change that.

Mogu S1 phablet Specifications

  • 1 GHz processor
  • 5 inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels) display
  • 256 MB of RAM (?)
  • 3 MP rear camera
  • VGA front facing camera
  • Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • micro USB port, Bluetooth
  • 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread

The specifications list is nothing to get impressed with. We are not entirely sure, but the device will mostly end up with 256 MB of RAM (and hence Android 2.3 Gingerbread, not 4.0 ICS). Not that a person buying a phone at this price bracket will really care. Here's hoping the phone at least runs well.

At least, people will have an option other than the Micromax A25 Smarty with this product launching soon.

This must be a fishing product- like bait used for fishing !!- in all probability it will never materialize at this price.
