CPU/Mobo Monitor Blank System Unresponsive - Help Please

Glad to be a part of this Forum.
I encountered a weiered problem yesterday,(kindly go through my Machine Specs below)

I made this mid level gaming rig and until yesterday my machine never crashed on me. Suddenly yesterday when i connected printer and the monitor went blank (although i can still see the CPU and other components running) the system just becamse non responsive. Even the power button the case was not responding and i have to shut down the PSU to get it started again.

Wanted to let you know couple of facts as per below though & also that sincelast night i am monitoring the temperature and found that the Case Temp at Idle is 38-40 But the CPU Temp is between 57-60 at Idle with an open side window.

I had a Arctic Freezer Pro 7 CPU cooler which i removed because it was causing space issue over the RAM slot (i've put OCZ Ram Cooler)
So when i bought the SILVERSTONE NT07-AM2 80mm CPU Cooler (as it fits without a problem) i knew it would cause temp issue's and hence removed the Overcloking immediately.

With my limited knowledge and expertise i believe it might've been because of over heating as i am in the process of changing the CPU cooler and currently i have the SILVERSTONE NT07-AM2 80mm CPU Cooler (is it because this cooler's TDP is 65 and my CPU is 80 TDP?)

Till now it is running fine but after a month this happened. I checked the event log and there were many eror's which i could not interpretate properly except the one which had a critical and said event ID 41.

I guess i am regretting the decision now of removing arctic cooler for just making space in my Machine (but i guess i'll go with the Corsair H50-1 - That would help...i Guess...what say?)

PSU: 500W Cooler Master Extreme
Case: Cooler Master Elite 310
Cooling: SILVERSTONE NT07-AM2 80mm CPU Cooler
Keyboard: Logitech
Mouse: Logitech
Internet Speed: 1MBPS
Antivirus: Kaspersky 2010

I also suspect about the PSU issue, hence Below is complete list of peripherals attached, kindly advise if its too much for 500 W PSU:-

2x320 GB WD HDD
1 MOBO
1x1TB WD HDD
1 ATI 5850
1 OCZ Ram Cooler
2 DVD RW
2 CCFL tubes(i've side window panel kinda looks cool witht he lights)
3 120 mm case fans
1x1 TB External HDD
1 Miscrosoft VX100 Webcam

So i am guessing there are only two possibility of this issue:
>Overheating
>PSU

Hmm? Purpose of 8GB rams?

Anyways ditch the power supply ASAP. You need a psu which supplies clean power viz. good enough for this system. VX450 is bare minimum which costs 3.9k-4.2k depending where you live but personally, better off with seasonic 500w or max vx550 if you are planning to make any major upgrades or anything remote.

Thanks for your reply and advice, the rams were just installed for good performance & ergarding the PSU - yes i believe now that i must have a higher capacity like the corsair HX650 but since i made this current system less than a month ago i think i'll wait for sometime before shelling some more... By the way Thanks a Ton again mate

It's surprising that u managed to run this system for a month on that PSU.

BTW the event ID 41 were for your file system errors something to do with RAID config gone bad or SATA cables tied together producing data corruption. However they wouldnt be related to ur current problem.

After u get a better PSU, 1st try these things before u go RMA stuff-

Remove all extra components off mobo, i.e. USB connectors, printers, hard disks, DVD Roms, internet cables, extra fans, ram heatsink.

Only attach display, kb & mouse, do a clear cmos & check if the system will boot.

If it wont remove card & try it with the onboard display.

Try all of this with only 1 RAM stick at a time. Test all sticks this way.

From then onwards, u can pinpoint faulty hardware, if any.

BTW u have got Raid 0, 5850, 8 gb ddr2, dual-core unlocked & OC'ed to 3.6G for a 17" screen, way too much overkill. U dont even need the RAM cooler if u havent messed with the 800 RAM timings.

Hi G2, Thanks a ton for giving your insights, just wanted to clear one thing that i removed the over clocking and was running my machine on normal cpu speed when that incident happened, But still your stuff is what i am gonna do first thing once i get a new PSU.
By the way post that one crash i havent yet experienced any further crash, i have kept my machine open (side panel) and running prime 95 for an hour now.

lets see fingers crossed.....
btw Does your opinion change any bit when i said my PC was not overclocked at that time when it was crash?

Hello Folks, Thanks a Ton for your expert opinions and advise, Well i think i should not recieve any cooling issue for now, last night bought THe Corsair H50-1 cooler & Cooler Master 460W Real Power(80%Bronze) and since last night the temps on my PC is 38 in idle and 49 at 100% load (prime95)....Yippeeeeee
Havent had the crash or black outs yet (touch wood)
