Comparing to HDD, SSD has shown its advantages in performance, reliability, power saving and many others...
But we all know the price is still the main issue.
We would like to know your opinions about the acceptable price range for you to go for a SSD.
It is also welcome to contribute about the most ideal SSD in your mind.
:)

Corsair Force 3 or Corsair Force 3 GT...both have not shown any issues so far.....

OCZ on the other hand has had issues on some systems, most notably on the P67 platform so reliability is a concern here.

Intel too but they are simply not fast enough.

For me the ideal price point to consider a SSD is 1$/GB. So a 120GB drive will cost 120$(~5400 @ 45/$)

120GB seems to be the ideal capacity for a fast OS+Apps+few games drive.

A 120GB sata II drive around 5k would be great!

With the 2.11 firmware most of the issues in the OCZ drives are ironed out.Corsair Force 3 did have issues see here

Exact same view... Infact I'm in search for one, but price is the deterring factor...

Yeah I knew someone would point that one out, but it is only limited to the 120Gb version of the non GT one, all others are ok...

The Firmware 2.11 does fix some but Anand lal Shimp is still having issues with his OCZ V3. and can still recreate the issue every now and then....Until he clears 'em I believe we are still not sure about the issue.

120GB Corsair force 3 firmware 1.2 have issues and flashing them to 1.3 doesn't help even with the drive after 1123 serial number. Anvil's endurance test gets a write error issue and some ATTO write simple was way too low. After OS install, the drive simply freezes. Corsair would send me a factory flash 1.3 firmware media sample. I'll be testing it with another platform and see if the factory flashed 1.3 firmware would still haunt force 3. Rev versions and firmware version should be mentioned on the drive/box, atleast on the ones which have issue.

If you want a SATA 3.0 SSD but worry about the firmware issue, then you should take HyperX into consideration.
Since we worked with SandForce closely and did a lot of internal tests about this SSD before launching, HyperX SSD can provide you the bloody fast speed plus no fear.
That is also why we launched this kit much later than other competitors.:)

Yes, the HyperX : so far I have heard good things about it, but once again the availability is scarce here,

no one is keeping them in ready stock

I am still keeping an open mind (despite 25nm Microns have a history of whoops) about firmware 1.3 corsair force 3 120gig drive. But if firmware 1.3 firmware does solve the issue then they should make it very clear on the packaging that its with firmware 1.3!

the perfect price point would be closer to 1usd/gb but realistically many of us would pay close to 2usd/usable gb

how much are the hyperX ssd's available here for????

im stuck between the v3 max iops and the hyper x...all boils down to price since the performance is very very close
