Motherboard drivers installation on laptop??

Laptop - Compaq presario - 3070

I have to format my laptop and install WIN XP home edition service pack 2

My vendor tells me that there is no MOTHERBOARD cd available for laptop.
U have to install the drivers online only.

Is it true?
If so, wat is the procedure i.e website, installation for the motherboard drivers etc.?

thanx...after i format my drive n install win xp...how should i install the motherboard drivers (please give step-by-step procedure)

I'm installing XP through bootable cd.
 
dunno if u've already started installing xp on ur lappy. First download all relevant and important drivers of ur lappy and save to some dvd/ cd. After formatting and installing xp u wont have a working lan/net connnection at ur dispoal to download drivers. check list below for required drivers

1. after installing xp, first install the latest Intel INF chipset drivers.

2. after that install the mobo chipset drivers,

3. usb mouse driver (if it dosent get installed),

4. then lan drivers, (check with lappy serial for right lan drivers)

5. vga drivers (most prolly these are specif to the lappy serial no - check those and make sure u download the right one)

6. then sound card drivers,

7. bluetooth drivers (if ur lappy has that),

8. rest of drivers like touch wheel / mouse pad etc...

after doing all this make, update ur xp installation, defrag hdd and then create a system restore point - so that u would have a restore point without programs installed. if not comfortable with system restore points then install a software to create a disc image.

wait for others to add or correct this - just to be sure :)

I have also heard that u should a take a SYSTEM RESTORE image on 2/3 dvds and use it on times like this.
 
^^ :) thats what TE's for, right? ppl are here to help each other!

anyway the second part is also true. u could always backup ur system in emergency and restore it in say abt 15 mins with one of those discs. then u would have to update the system to compensate for any new patches/updates.
 
I have downloaded all drivers for COMPAQ PRESARIO V3070TU from here -

But out of all those which drivers should i install for the normal use of laptop?

What is routine / critical mentioned under each driver? Does routine mean v compulsory have 2 install that driver?

There r diff versions of the same drivers on that page (i guess :huh: ) so should i d/l the latest version only?

Any other tips?

Install these drivers in the following order.

1. Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH7

2. Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family Video Driver

or

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7200 Driver

depending on your video adapter.

3. Conexant High Definition Audio Driver

or

Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp33566)

4. Synaptics Touchpad

5. HP Quick Launch Buttons

6. Conexant HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP Driver

7. HP Wireless Assistant

8. Intel PRO/Wireless Drivers

or

Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver

9. Ricoh 5-in-1 Card Reader Host Controller
