my machine is Dell Dimension 9150 which is about 4 yrs old and out of warantee.
now it has stopped working and I have been advised that motherboard has developed some snag and requires replacement.
as i recall, sometime in past somebody from Punjab(can not recall city) was offering to repair motherboard.
can anybody assist me in this matter, as motherboard replacement is a costly affair.thanks

friends, can somebody suggest cheap and reliable replacement for Dell dimension 9150 computer's motherboard? Thanks.

Gigabyte G31M-ES2L motherboard 2.4K/- 3 yrs warranty.

Very stable motherboard, and kinda TE's choice in this price range

You can also go for the Biostar NV-7050 Series board which offers good value for money. But on the performance side, you can't expect more. :)

It retails about Rs. 2,350.

geek ashish and prasanna 29, thanks for your reply.I'm having some questions and hope you both would be kind enough to attend to them.here it goes:-

my hard disk is 500 GB SATA .Are these board compatible?

Can a novice change the mobo himself?

If the mobo is changed, all the drivers ( except new mobo driver) are to be reinstalled?

Pl.suggest some other mobo also, in view of the above.Price is no constraint.

ashish, it appears you are based at Mumbai and I'm based at Thane and therefore, could you please help me further in this regard. If so please let me know your email.

thanks once again.

You're welcome :)

And I think that a novice can't change the mobo unless he is having some basic ideas & knowledge about it..

Yes, all the drivers should be reinstalled.

Regarding other mobos, give me your price range and I'll tell you. :)

Finally, Ashish will definitely help you if he can. Right? ;)

prasanna, thanx for reply.price is not that much of consideration, but the quality is.further, i am still awaiting ashish's reply.i do'nt know for sure if he is in a position to help me or not.

^ If your Processor supports, get this board: Asus P5B-VM, which is old now but it's a very good performer. (It's an LGA 775 compatible one though, it supports from Intel Celeron to Dual Core Processors) You can overclock easily with the options provided in it. Moreover if you're an intel fan, go for the DG33FB or DG41RQ, both are recent ones.

And wait yaar. He may be busy. Who knows? You'll definitely get a reply.

Thanks ashish, I've retrieved your mobile no.Presently I'm in Varanasi, and shall be leaving for Thane on 10th of November and contacting you at the earliest after reaching there.

thanks once again.

@ All techies,
Mr. Devagral has a DELL machine with non working Intel 945 mobo. the problem is the form factor of this mobo is BTX. Intel stopped BTX in '07, I think.
Currently we don't have any BTX mobo available.
If we go for new ATX mobo, we might have to change the cabinet as well as the PSU too.
The PSU-mobo power connector wires are really short.

Do we have any BTX LGA-775 mobo available locally?
