^^ TBH.. as good as android might be with the sense UI... even the best... But sadly I did not like holding the legend in my hand...at all .. not my kind of design !!

^^

each to his own i guess...i loved the solid and durable feel it had to it..

in the end, it comes down to the software...apps rule the world...and htc will release the latest firmware...samsung has a record of abandoning its users

Do check the Acer Liquid. Saw it for 22k in ezone and Reliance electronics stores. Its got a 800x480 screen, Snapdragon processor and Android 2.1 (2.2 on its way).

Samsung seems pretty serious about BADA. Lot of firmware updates already. I am sure they will support it surely.

It's a nice phone and there's a limited ferrari version, but the RAM is just 256MB I think. Which means, no Gingerbread, if you're looking at upgrading OS beyond 2.2

You did not like the feel of the Legend in your hands??:no:

Are you sure it was the lengend?? Sorry i'm asking but you are the first one i`m hearing say Legend did not feel good in your hand. Can you please elaborate more on why you didnt like it? Interesting to know..

Wave is powerful in term of hardware... But I feel the potential is getting wasted. There is no way Bada will be as popular as Android because

1. Android Runs on too many devices. Many manufacturers support android(incl samsung) and hence more user base and hence more popular with developers..which means more apps/games

2.Bada is not open source. And only samsung is using it (and that too only on the mid models and not on Flagships). There is not enough userbase to make Bada hugely popular. Even if samsung releases a couple of models each year, it's never going to be Big time unless Samsung gets totally behind it and promotes it like hell. which I dont think will happen..

I personally would go with a platform that has bigger and better support particularly if I'm planning to use the mobile for 2 years or more. If you are thinking long term, android is the way to go.....But that's just me..

Personally I would suggest you go with Wave only if you dont need any more feature than the phone comes packaged with (Meaning calling/Texting/Looking at the screen and drooling...)

future proof phone is definitely the nexus one >> aused one will fit in ur budget .. wave has approx 100 apps only ..and lgend has a weak processor .. milestone battery life sucks ...

... buy a nexus or an used iphone 3gs ... both are def future proof .

This the handset you talking about? --> Acer S100 Liquid: Price, Features & Reviews (White): Acer S100 | Flipkart

It seems Andriod 1.6
The newer packs comes with 2.1 preloaded. A free update is available from Acer website too.

Oh, then the Acer Liquid E (512MB RAM) should be a good buy.

Acer Liquid E - Full phone specifications

It sells for ~$400 in the US/Canada.

Interesting, why did I think it was just 256MB? I've heard that it sells for about 18-19k here, but haven't been able to locate one. Just saw one on quikr (Bangalore) a couple of days back, selling for aobut 18k.

It may be sturdy... But it felt like a dabba in my hand if you what i mean.. and as far as android goes.. im not that much into apps as i have said before..

Just basics like calling, texting, photos and themes... and may be a few apps.. not gonna waste hours of my time modding my fone.. already do that with my pc..

I would have liked the option of android.. but i guess you cant get everything you want..

I can just hope they port android within a years time.. ;)

Well... did not like the Acer liquids design.. so thats a no..

BTw - Any new fones to be released yet in the 20k range that i should be aware of ??????

hmm... if that felt like a dabba, you wont be liking 99% of phones in the market... And you are using a N73 right? What'll you call that?

In that case Wave will suit you well.

True. If wave came with android and at this price and spec, not many will buy a Legend. It would have been the best-seller for samsung.

I can just hope they port android within a years time.. ;)
I hope so too, Porting will not take a long time but the thing is no modder seem to be interested in it and theres not much happening at the moment.... It May.. or it may not...

Let me counter that just for arguments sake.

iOS too runs on only one phone which apple refreshes only once per year. iOS is used by only Apple. Also unlike Apple, Samsung can by itself make all the important bits of the hardware as well as the software. Like Apple Samsung is a large company and can invest heavily of they want to.

iOS is not open source either. Also apple is the only company developing and using iOS. From what I understand Bada OS is also a *nix based OS like iOS and Android.

Also what makes you think Wave is a mid range non flagship phone? It is a Bada OS flagship for Samsung. The hardware is superior to Android flagships of most other manufacturers. Just because its affordable doesn't mean its not a flagship. Samsung deliberately made it affordable. Unlike Apple Samsung makes both the hardware and software for their phones, so they can easily make their phones affordable and attractive to the customer. As for user base, this is the first phone with Bada OS and it was the fastest to achieve the 1M sales mark second only to iPhone. Also unlike iPhone 4 whose sales are mostly repeat buyers, all of Wave sales were fresh market. Wave is currently the most popular and highest rated phone on GSMArena user rating system. I do argree that Samsung can make or break the success of Bada OS, but then you can't deny that it does have potential.

iPhone did not barely offer a 1/4th of what Wave does out of the box and it didn't have an app store to speak of (like Wave did from the start) and in spite of that there were still at least a few people who genuinely found the phone suited to them even after you discount the Fanboi's who bought iPhone's just for the heck of it.

^^ +1, very well said. vpraveenis get your facts right. Try the 720p 30fps video recording, music quality, S-Amoled screen and the touch on the wave and you will know why people are buying it.

Well ofcourse its a dabba.. but 3 - 4 yrs ago.. Its was the best feature fone sub 20k mark.. plus it was gift otherwise I would have gone for a Samsung Slider or a Moto Razr..

And I really dont like 99% of the fones out there.. Milestone , Wave , Omnia HD and Ultra Touch.. are the very few fones that I like.. I didnt even like Ifone when it came out.. except for its Touch.. ;)

Samsung fones kick Ass when it comes to looks !!

Apple supports only one OS for mobile, while Samsung is spread across many different ones. Galaxy runs on Android, Wave on Bada, Omnia on WindowsM/Symbian, their corby series on something else.... What I meant was that samsung does not focus heavily on Bada. To be clearer, I'm not saying they "will" not focus on Bada... I'm saying they "are" not.. In future they may.. or may not..
Also what makes you think Wave is a mid range non flagship phone? It is a Bada OS flagship for Samsung. The hardware is superior to Android flagships of most other manufacturers.
There is no question about the superb hardware in Wave. I read somewhere that samsung will ship Bada on Mid- priced models while continuing Andriod for high-end(maybe price-wise). I cannot recollect the source..Sorry.
As for user base, this is the first phone with Bada OS and it was the fastest to achieve the 1M sales mark second only to iPhone........I do argree that Samsung can make or break the success of Bada OS, but then you can't deny that it does have potential.
Again for arugment's sake, say samsung offers users 2 choices.. Wave with Android and Wave with Bada. Which will you choose as a buyer? and Why?

And again iPhone sells so much only because it was branded "Apple". 90% of people buy it for the "cool" factor. They dont use the phone for other than calling/texting (and that includes my sister)

And even android with so much user base, you can still find many complaining in the forums that the quality of apps is not really upto the mark.

err.. What I stated in my previous post was merely my opinion... I never said they were facts...
And all the features you are listing are in-built with the phone, and if you read my previous posts properly, I recommended the OP to get Wave if he is satisfied with the built-it features of the phone.

The old model (without the E) is 256MB. The updated version has 512MB.

Looks nice, but then I came across this in one of the review comments : A mathematician at risk: Android Acer liquid e from Rogers review: recommend don't buy
Any clue?
Just those 2 apps have the issue - not much of problem I think. TD isnt even available in India for that matter. It seems to be resolved now anyway (post towards the end by MarkhamBoy).

I have a Acer Liquid E and cannot find the Td Mobile Bank app in the market! - Android Market Help

Might want to split further Acer Liquid discussion to a new thread, since OP doesnt like the phone for some reason.

Thanks. I second NinByChoice about a split of thread. A dealer has quoted me 19.2k for it. I am going there in half an hour to check it out, though he might have only the dummy piece with him.

--- Updated Post - Automerged ---

Checked out the Liquid E model yesterday and to be honest, it feels pretty solid. The body is a finger print magnet though. The dealer confirmed that the price is 19.2k with b&w. Not bad for an underclocked snapdragon with 512MB RAM. The guy admitted that the service is not as good as HTC or Samsung, but it's not that bad either. He also said, between wave and the liquid, he'd choose the liquid, well that's his opinion. BTW, the dealer is "Delight Telecom" on CMH Road.

Was it liquid E or the Liquid E Ferrari Edition.

I spoke with an Acer dealer and he said that only the Ferrari Edition is available.
