Please suggest a good laptop mouse for around Rs.700-800.

I don't know much about laptop mouse, so here are few doubts?

1. Wired or wireless? Which one should be preferred?
2. In case of wireless, how frequently the battery will need replacement?

I've searched around and found these two.

eBay India: V220 Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks - Blue (item 250615880471 end time 15-May-2010 22:04:36 IST)
This is OEM so cheaper, but I don't know whether I'd take this or not

and

eBay India: Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 - 3YR (item 170474469962 end time 25-Apr-2010 12:55:11 IST)

Please suggest a good mouse for regular use.

i'll say go for the V220 Cordless as i own one & bought it about an year ago specially for my laptop.

it's a nice mouse & has 1000dpi.

also, you need to change battery only twice in a year.

^^ Thanks,

I need few more opinions, specially on OEM, Is it ok to buy this OEM v220?

also Microsoft 3000 is listed on Tradus.in for 950, There I can get it for 700 after using 250 off voucher which is valid till today.

So I need few more suggestions/opinions quickly.

Recently my mouse got hurt! Got a few into considerations like Gigabyte GM6800 (Rs. 850/-), Gigabyte GM6880 (Rs. 975/-) (Will help in the little bit of gaming that I do, and might eventually go for the latter),

1) Cordless Logitech M205 (Rs. 944/-),

2) Genius Bluetooth Navigator R 820 BT (Rs. 646/-),

3) Belkin Wireless Comfort (Rs. 744/-),

4) Microsoft Optical Compact Notebook USB (Rs. 468/-),

5) Cordless Microsoft Wireless Slate 3000 (Rs. 878/-)

I already have MX518, but I think it's a bit big for using with laptop.

My question one is still unanswered, and also the whole purpose of this thread.

^ i'm a bit confused as OEM does not carry any warranty but the listing says that it comes with warranty..

better ask this question to the seller on ebay.

^^ I'll ask the seller as you said.

And I'll ask 1st question again, Wired or wireless? Which one should be preferred?

Sorry to Hijack your thread OP.Even i am looking for a mouse for my lappy.I have MX518 as you said its too big for a lappy .Folks please give suggestion for a good wireless mouse with a budget of max 1K

^^ Never mind, now we are two, looking for the same thing.

Let's see who can throw some more inputs here.

I personally use Dell's Bluetooth Mouse... as it does not require use of a adapter which will occupy a usb port as well as easy to be broken if using it on the Go....

About ur wireless or wired question... I think depends on usage.. If u need high precision mouse, then wireless may fail you sometimes ( happens to my bluetooth mouse..) or if your usage is general, then it's better to go for a mini wireless mouse.

I am looking for daily usage nothing or precision kind. While playing games i will use the MX518.Again budget is 1K strictly.

^^ I'm also looking for general usage, no gaming, no high precision.

How is Microsoft 3000 compared to Logitech V220?

Personal opinion on Why wired mouse is recommended over wireless for a laptop:

1. No need to operate a laptops tiny screen from a distance.

2. A Laptop mouse would mostly be used on an arbitary surface (Bed, sofa, lap, etc.). Hence decent accuracy will be required. My experience with even good mice (microsoft laser wireless) has been bad in this case: The mouse spun many times when used on soft uneven surfaces.

3. Wired mouse is considerably cheaper.

4. Anything delicate protruding out of the laptop's side (USB transmitter for wireless mouse) is a concern on supersoft surfaces (bed).

5. Incase one is always on the move, a changing/charging the batteries of wireless mouse will again be a hassle.

6. At a given budget, a compact wired mouse will have better accuracy than a compact wireless mouse. Hence gaming laptops need to carry one mouse only (the wired one).

You won't lose the wired mess with a wireless mouse either, you have to connect the receiver part via USB to the laptop as well, that is mess too. I have one, connected to a laptop, so I know.

Ahh.. just go into a shop and get any Microsoft/Logitech WIRED mouse. You don't have to research so much on such a thing. Wireless is just a useless hassle in terms of using with a portable laptop (unless your battery has died and you're using it like a desktop now). You'll have to bear with changing batteries every 2 months or so..
