Move over Cellshock, it's my 10th Anniversary!

These are OK timings, can be matched by other memory kits... what I'm curious to see is how high it will clock @ CAS 3 and 4 ;)

Everyone's a noob (at something)... what I meant was these speeds and timings were possible even with my Ballistix and Cellshock, albeit with higher vdimm.

Btw, anyone interested in a Cellshock kit? :P

Awesome stuff RiO. :ohyeah:

Whatta pair of beauties!! :drool2:

Pics dont do Crucial sticks any justice- one has to see them in person. :cool2:
I never liked the yellow Ballistix but i got floored the day i handled them. :P

I would have got them but i am still on DDR.

Yup, they clock really well... will find time this week to see what they're really made of. For now, I've managed 500mhz 4-4-4-8 and 600mhz 5-5-5-8 @ 2.15v.

Yes, D9's can handle 2.35v can't they? In fact I'm doing 400 MHz (800 ddr) @ 4-3-3-8 (2.1v), but have successfully done 3-3-3-8 at 2.15v, should be able to go down to 3-3-3-7 @ 2.15v. However 500 MHz 4-4-4-8 @ 2.1v should be sweeter especially since Intel's are still bandwidth whores ;)

The early Anniversary sticks have managed 500mhz 3-3-3, these appear to be from the first batch too - we'll see how well they do this weekend ;)

Possibly, until better performing DDR3 kits arrive next year... I moved to DDR2 early and paid the price for it, taking it easy with DDR3. Besides, it's not like DDR3 is outperforming DDR2 just yet ;)

Couldn't agree more...I remember you paying some 26K (was it more) for your 2 GB kit, you were one of the first adopters. I got my 4GB kit for barely 13K (we both got D9's I think).

Early adoption is a big ouch wallet wise. DDR3 seems to be marginally better for Intel, I've done a few tests with DDR - remember Core proccy's are bandwidth sensitive more than timing sensitive. DDR3 1333 seems to be giving positive results in some benchies as compared to DDR2 1066.

Pricing's fukkin sh1t though...we'll need to wait at least a year for "viable" options...

Yeah, I paid 24.6k for the Ballistix PC2-8000... the problem is not entirely with DDR3 prices, it's also got to do with the new chipsets that aren't very impressive. An example is P35 DDR2 vs. DDR3, and more recently, P35 vs. X38. It's not worth the jump to a new chipset and/or memory standard (not yet). I'll probably upgrade to DDR3 if X48 turns out to be good.

LOL!! and 20k for the cellshocks huh ? :P

^ Seriously, I looks at Rio's purchases and say to myself "He's seriously overspending", and this is by a long long shot your best buy till date :D

As for DDR3, I'd rather wait till the settles down instead of jumping to an interim solution with DDR2.
