I just happened to stop at a Dell Signature store in my area and found what I feel is THE ONE!

I was looking for an ultraportable Netbook with the abilities of a Full Fledged Desktop.

Stopped myself from buying any of the PUNY Intel Atom offerings (single or dual core, both are pathetic excuses to run computers) and held back. Until I found THIS ONE!

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

I know 30 k is a lot of money for a netbook, but a 12 inch hi res screen, 4 gb of RAM, dual core AMD processor and 7200 RPM hard drive are things you don't see in a netbook regularly.

This has opened a new niche in India, namely, Laptop Replacement Netbook (just like there was a desktop replacement laptop a few years ago)

I am also looking at the Asus 1215N which has slightly better graphic technology (nVidia Optimus) and hence a fabulous battery life as compared to the AMD powered 'book.

Not to forget the fact that the 1215N comes with USB 3.0 which is an added bonus.

Drawback for the same is that it's not available in India and the one from the USA doesn't have USB 3.0 (the international models have it, though)

I am looking to replace my AMD 5738G notebook with this one.

Lets discuss this one. I am mulling a 12 inch netbook this time pretty seriously, almost willing to pull the plug on the Dell.

why dont you consider the thinkpad edge which is similarly priced to the dell albeit a couple of thousands more but then you get amazing build quality.

Anything above 30k is pushing it.

And anything above 12 inch is making it less portable.

These 2 figures are sweet spots and best left undisturbed.

tbh - build quality and fit and finish of the thinkpad edge is much superior to the dell - i've used a thinkpad edge for a few days - i think its worth the extra 1500-2000rs also it comes with 3 yrs warranty i think.

The link to thinkpad shows no OS in 30k and just 1 Gb of DDR2 ram. Not even similarly priced for the specs of Dell which has 4Gb DDR3 ram. The proccy is better than the dell one though.
