Well I have lived 1 year in B'lore, 1 year in chennai and 6-7 months in Hyderabad, comparing these 3 cities...

For a north indian, B'lore is best if you are pub/partying kinda guy, but don't know about after 11:30 PM life :P, but its costly(10 month advance rental + many services), traffic is worse, very small city so no fun riding in city(you will get bored of the city in no time if you are not that kind of creature?), bribery and agents rock(you get your work done faster if you throw money).

Hyderabad is mix of both north+south(*wise?, can't explain), bribery kind of thing is here but you can get your work done without it in most of the cases. renting house is easy and cheap(only 2 month advance, no paper work in most of the cases), road are pretty good. city is large, cinema is cheap(Imax 3d tickets for only 150/- and 300/- ), bar and pubs are here, bribing cops is easy and cheap :P, tough chicks have more cloths compare to b'lore. :P, weather is as good as B'lore(may a little more less)

chenani is worst for a north indian, but may the best for a south guy(lang problem), getting a maid or cook who knows hindi is like hell(probably you will never get, if you not living in good areas), weather is worst(AC is must if you can afford it), if you like south food then this city is best in this department. transportaion is also good, but Autowalas are badest. general public is honest and helpful, only if you can understand them..

All said, but I liked the chennai most, simply because I had many many friends from my college there and don't like Hyderabd 'cause no past friends here.

never heard of hyderabad being a dry city

Certainly was the case when i visited in '96. I wanted to smuggle some booze to my cousin who lived there but our parents intervened :(

It hasnt been the case since NTR was dethroned in late 90's.

It has been a non-dry cit for almost 10 years now, it was only for like 2-3 years that

it was a dry city.

temperatures go as high as 45 during summers and some places have water problem i.e., borewells go dry in summers (on the brighter side, you can avoid bathing daily :P )

edit: oops, you guys are talking about "dry" city... :ashamed: you can get it any where in the entire state. even in the reeeemoooooteeee villeges where there is no electricity.

weee , please list out places where there are water problem :| , i am so used to my 24 hours water supply place

Excellent! Now I hope more tech companies move to Pune from Hyderabad due to these problems :ohyeah:

Don't worry nothing will change :P

Well I don't have any water problem in my area(madhapur/hitech city/kondapur), but I'm here since May only.

never heard of hyderabad being a dry city

Yes, It's not a dry city, shops are everywhere, in some areas(its even cheaper then MRP), but here in Madhapur they sell for 5-10 more bucks. may be 'cause of S/w creatures.

I can get you boose anytime/anyday(be it a dry day(2nd oct) or BAND, or night 2:00 AM), offcourse you have to pay 100% premium on such occasions)

I was in Hyderabad for about 2 and a half years when i was doing my schooling.

I loved the place.

The place is flooded with theatres. I remember the first time we entered hyderabad we had lunch in a local hotel there .. Tears were gushing out of the eyes :P

The people are very friendly. I absolutely enjoyed my school life there.

Nothing beats Karachi bakery & Gokul Chat corner :P

This is a long time back, Not sure how the city has turned now though.

How is Gokul Chat doing these days ?

Recall there being an 'incident' there some time back.

Yeah there was explosion i think about 2 to 3 years back.

My mom visited that place recently. She said it was house full ! Still the best chat items !

I think it has been expanded to about 3 floors now..

Ohh they have sites as well :P, Thank you.. Will visit the banjara hill wala shop soon. My friend circle is a little different to talk about these stuff.

They are a very big shop. Famous across the country and for Indians across the globe . They accept international orders for delivering across India. It is like that famous shop in Pune for mouth watering Bakarwadi :ohyeah:

You friends circle is diff ?? ..
If Men don't talk about food then global warming has really affected us :bleh:

I understood that, but wanted more details.
Well its my understanding that in Bangalore, there is this certain unexplained passivity amongst the locals after about 22.00. The traffic density decreases dramatically, the food courts/snooker parlors/malls start to close, the night shows in movie theaters are pretty vacant, public transportation becomes less reliable. All of this, relative to hyd of course. ;>

When is kickout time in a club or pub in Hyderabad ?
About midnight.

There was a ban in '95 which lasted a while. Liquor stores and engineering colleges are in fact in a race against the population in Hyderabad.

I would not include the places you described as nightlife, they are more like daylife.

Night-life to me is pubs, lounges, clubs, live entertainment, restaurants etc.

Are you claiming Hyd can beat BLR in this ?

Yes thats what autos are for.

Thats the same here in BLR.

Now had it been later than midnight in Hyd then I would have agreed with you.

I would use the word to refer to the collective set of activities available to a person after his work hours, couldn't find any other term. But very well, I wont cavil over terminology.

I bet its your 14 year old visualization(you mentioned '96) of the place that puts you in such a state of disbelief? But then again, all my claims are based on a one week stay in Bangalore last year, which involved me looking to have a great time and blow off money rather than take statistical notes on this subject. So who knows? Either of our claims cant be validated without feedback from third person(s). Just so I know, was your question the result of a sense of disagreement? Or just keeping up?

Hyd does get negative points in case of "Live entertainment" though. Bangalore has housed several international concerts, has way more cricket matches, golf course events, yearly tennis tournaments and the likes. So its a no contest in this regard.

Going about it from your literal perception of the word; Fact remains, Hyd has more to offer after these hours than Bangalore.

Err I've been out till 2am in Bottles and Chimney when I was in hyderabad. By comparison, you get kicked out at 12am everywhere in Bangalore. The only place that stays open is Golden Palms but that is outside the city.

The thing that is horrible in Hyderabad is the weather. Everything else is pretty damn nice.
