Mozilla Firefox 3.0 RC1

MF3 RC1 limited the use of my favorite extensions like

FAST DIAL,

Downlaod Helper

Interclue

PIClens

and other some....

MIND this.. this all worked butter smooth on Beta 5 :(

But clearly, RC1 has reduced its memory hogging compared to Beta 5.

@xcaliber: mind this: maybe its your crappy extensions that were hogging memory, and because RC1 is not loading them, you feel its RC1 that has reduced memory profile??? :p

most reported FF problems are probably due to extensions... just like people end up blaming Windows for BSODs not realising its caused by poor quality drivers...

FF works smoothly for me (except it still takes a lot of RAM IMO) and i ATM use only the adblock plus extension :)

Ok Agreed... Disabling of extensions had given RC1 chance to reduce on memory consumption..... But if getting mathematical then the difference is about 17,150 KB...

Heres a screeny of both RC1 without (36,416 KB) and with (53,520 KB) extensions respectively

Without Extensions

With Extensions + Nightly Tester

But by "Memory hogging" I meant alot...No offence though. :D Beta 5 used to eat up about 80 - 90 Mb on plain start without NIGHTLY TESTER EXTENSION that I'd used to forcely install the extension in RC1.

nice desktop! well for me, both ff2 and ff3 beta versions and RC1 all take about 60-80 mb during operation (say about 3-5 tabs open)... so i take it as "normal", i have not noticed any reduction in memory footprint as claimed in the FF3 release notes :) i dont use the browser for extended periods so cant comment on memory leak issues...

firefox3beta got a resource problem in Linux with sqlite.heard it was fixed with latest xulrunner update.

there are workarounds though :)
