Mozilla releases Firefox 20: Improves private browsing, downloads, security

Well What's new -
The most talked about update is Mozilla’s new ‘private browsing” mode (which some people have wittily called ‘porn’ mode – Firefox on the other hand naively says that it will allow us all to buy better surprise birthday gifts for the people we love. Yes that’s EXACTLY what people are going to use it for, Mozilla!).
Previously, users would have to start up a new session of Firefox if they wanted to enter ‘private mode’, however with the update, users can now set the privacy of each individual tab, saving them the trouble of having to run multiple Firefox windows or restart the browser.

Now that's some "good" news... wot say :yuck:

I don't think Firefox is slow or resource hungry. It uses between 150-500MB of RAM on my system. The amount varies, but it keeps releasing memory back to the system. Chrome on my system often uses more than 800MB. With Opera the memory footprint keeps increasing, and it never releases any memory back to the system.
Page load speeds on Firefox are about the same as Chrome or Opera.
The only way Firefox trails Opera is in tab responsiveness. But that seems to have improved considerably in this last release. I've been using the upgraded version for only about 24 hours, but it seems a lot more responsive.
The on demand privacy mode's pretty nifty. Opera's had it for some time.
It's useful in quite a few cases besides porn surfing. I use the privacy mode to use secondary social networking and email accounts. I make my friends use it when they come over and want to surf the net for a bit. And it's also useful when doing web development, to check how your sites look to users besides the admin.

Mozilla + Thunderbird + addons for me is quicker, lighter and more feature rich than Chrome + addons for me.

I dont think that's true. Previously, when someone entered private mode, all the current tabs would be saved and closed and the private window will open. But now, the current tabs are unaffected, and a new private window opens. It is not a per tab basis, like in Opera, where in the same window, a few tabs may be private and others not.

^ I was under the impression they had emulated Opera, they seem to have gone the Chrome way. I prefer Opera's handling of this. Much easier to manage within the same window for me.

Opera used to be my favorite browser as it can handle mail, torrents and browsing simultaneously. However once i started using chrome, i realized ho slow opera is loading web pages. I mean it takes ages compared to chrome for me. Otherwise, opera is a great feature rich browser
