It blows out 4890 out of equation, consuming less power at the same time. Being 40nm chip, this holds v good overclocking potential and I'm sure it will knock on doors of GTX 285 at around 75 % of the price

4770 performs at AVG. 90% performance of 4850!!!

(n ive heard it overclocks better than 4850, so maybe - 4770 OC = 95% 4850 OC)

and you're right, its about 10% slower than the 4850 at stock. Being 40nm getting a 50% increase should be possible
This is actually a replacement for the 4830, and it manages to render that card completely obsolete.
