I have been put into a dilemma recently in suggesting a board for my friend!

He has cut down his options between MSI 880GMA-E45 and Gigabyte GA-880-UD2H.

***He needs the board to overclock and unlock AMD Phenom II 555BE ***

MSI 880GMA-E45
*Good Reviews and A.S.S
*Military Class Components/OC Genie/CPU Core Unlock (Website Claims)
*No IEEE1394(connects his cam via this), eSata

Gigabyte GA-880-UD2H
*Has IEEE 1394, eSata too!
*Can anyone tell me is overclocking and unlocking the cores easy on this board???
*Component durability?

I was more leaning towards Gigabyte as for good reviews, good CC overall satisfied user!

Mention the pricing and availability for online purchase.

Mate ,

AFAIK - 8xx Series chipset from AMD doesnt really gel-well with unlocking the 555BE - Most of the 7xx series chipsets do.

I'd suggest a 785 chipset mobo from gigabyte since most 555BE owners in TE have been successful in doing it with that board.

Gigabyte GA 785GMT ~ 5.5k will be one of the best boards to do it . Also I'd suggest getting yourself an after market cooler like the Hyper 212+ since you will be overclocking it.

For further reference : AMD K10.5* Core & Cache Unlocking Guide @ OCN - the 150 odd pages in the thread will be able to answer most of the queries which you'd be confused about.

Best of Luck

I have the 880GM - UD2H. Overclocks very well via BIOS as well as in software. As for core unlocking, I dunno sorry ...

GA Supports USB3. Upto 2 USB3.0 >>> Specs
U can PM them and try whether they will ship it to your location. They are registered dealers in TE.

The GA-880GM-UD2H --> no USB 3.0 ports. SB 710 --> SATA 3Gbps

The GA-880GMA-UD2H --> 2 USB 3.0 ports. SB 850 --> SATA 6Gbps
