wow...the performance seems great...

beating the HD 5850 quite easily in some benches...

true..14k..and it will be a hit..

Yup its just a matter of clocks , so even a stock zotac would perform like this if you clocked it. Cyclone is only 60mhz less core clock than this so really not much diff out of the box.

^^Not just the clocks but the heatsink(s), voltage regulation circuitry, memory chips etc matter as well. The stock cooler retailing with all the nVidia reference design may not match upto the Hawk and the Cyclone's clocks.

Damn, the 460 seemed to thrash the 5850's butt left, right and center! :D

@stormblast: the cooler onboard the HAWK seems to be better than the Cyclone so the Hawk should achieve better clocks and run cooler at the same time.

well it looks amazing & with that massive dual fan aftermarket cooler it will run cooler & quieter as well. :)

let's hope it's not too overpriced than other GTX 460's in India.. :P

Only games where it really thrashes stock 5850 is FC2 and HAWX. Everywhere else it either looses, wins by very small margin or equals 5850.

Problem with HAWX is same one we had with 5770s. We dont know how these card will really end up if you buy retail. MSI is known to send cherry picked products to reviewers. They did it with 5770HAWX, retail were rather disappointing in terms of ocing.

It does not have cooling/heatsink on PWM mosfets, I have already seen couple of blown HAWX GTX 460s over at XS when people tried to push them closer to 1Ghz.

GTX 460 is very punishing on PWM thanks to its power draw. You oc more and push more voltage, it really stresses the pwm area. In long run I do have concerns with this HAWX. They really should have had some heatsink over those pwm mosfets like Galaxy / KFA has done.

Well ATI's answer is refreshed 6000 series. Competitor to GTX 460 is less than 4-6 weeks away I guess.

^Actually my post was targeting the performance-to-price ratio between the 2 cards. I suppose the pricing for the 5850 has not been dropped as yet?

The KFA GTX 460 seems to have one of the better heatsink by far - what were the best clocks you were able to manage on that Shripad?

:ohyeah:
by that time even 5850 will pawn the GTX460 by price.

925/2225 as of now. Core is pretty much at its limit with 1087mv. This card has stupid dual bios. For some reason modded bios voltages is not sticking :P it goes back to original bios. So cant push core more.

Memory will probably go more.

This is still better than most GTX 460s though.

Its reasonable considering it costs $250 in states.

But honestly, buy it only if you plan to push it (with little bit of modding though by adding few sinks on VRM mosfets. ).

Otherwise save couple of grands and buy zotac or Palit or cyclone. GTX 460 does not run that hot at stock or moderate oc speeds.

1 of the main reason i dont mind spending more on the hawk compared to the cyclone is that hawk is way less noisy than the cyclone. i cant stand it when the gpu makes noise on load.

Bit high....as Zotac is down to almost 12.5k now ! 13.5~14k will be good price :)
ya am pretty sure it will go down by 500-800rs after 2-3 weeks.
