Update! Update!

The CPU is working!!!!:clap::hap2:

So I got the CPU checked from PrimeABGB and the CPU IS working. I also showed them the motherboard, but they put their hands up saying they can't do anything about it. So, I have handed it over to my hardware guy who is gonna get it checked from his contacts at Lamington Road. I have been away from home since last evening so could not update the thread.

@Rite, I will contact you tomorrow once I get back home. My cell phone is off as it is at home. Now, the only thing that remains to be fixed is the motherboard. Hope, we can get it done. I can't wait to get it fixed and start some benchmarking.

Signing off for today, be back online tomorrow.

BTW, PrimeABGB did give me the bill for testing the CPU. In my opinion, that was very ethical of them. :)

How much was this charge. Though happy to hear, that things are smoothing out.

They charged me Rs.300 for testing, a little on the steeper side. But at least I now know that the CPU is working. :)

I still haven't recieved any update on the motherboard repair thingy. My hardware guy has sent it out for repair, but there has been no news from the other end. According him, this is normal and will take about 5-6 days just for me to know if the mobo can be repaired. Ridiculous! :(

You haven't been in touch with me. Let me know how it goes. By the way, is the CPU confirmed fine?

i had the same problem but it was resolved as soon as i took out one of the rams

as far as the bent pins problem goes it is pretty common
a friend of mine had a similar thing on his x58 intel board but intel refused to repair it
hope the manufacturer replaces your board

Bad news...! I spoke with my hardware guy and told him that this is taking too much time. He asked met to take a call regarding keeping the board with the repairer or getting it back. I have decided to just get a new board and build my system. I am tired of all this delay. I am shipping the MSI board back to Rite and he's gonna get it fixed from SMC International. Once I get the board back from him, I will check if it works and put it up for sale or probably build another system. But for now...it's a no go. :(

A classic case of DOA I'd say. Get the refund and get yourself a new board. Is the processor working fine at least?

Just curious, what itrust rating did you pass him?

I haven't yet given Rite an iTrust rating since the system isn't up and running yet. I did get the processor checked at PrimeABGB and it POSTed properly. They didn't check if it boots into Windows or not. I will check that this week or maybe by Monday, latest. I even ordered the 5850 from DareDevil for the system that I will build.
It's just that, I'm really frustrated with all this delay. Its been almost three weeks and all I am trying to do is get the system up. I dunno if I should ask Rite for a refund on the board because he's been trying to proactively help me get the board fixed. Of course, that will now involve additional cost for both him and me, more for him than me (shipping to Delhi and then fixing and shipping back to Mumbai). I dunno what will be more cheaper, getting a new board and asking Rite to pay some amount for it or send the MSI board back to Rite and get it fixed. Rite, mate, don't get me wrong or think that I am being unfair. I am just bouncing ideas off my head. :(

I have purchased the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3R motherboard for 9K, for building the system. Getting the MSI board repaired was taking too much time. However, I have located another motherboard repair shop at Lamington, Mayday computers. Dunno how they are but got to know about them from another friend of mine. Any TE members have any idea about these guys? Are they trustworthy, etc.? Also, I emailed Rite and he has agreed to refund 1.5K back to me and I take care of repairing of the motherboard. So, I guess that's about it for now.
