MTNL 3G not working

I have bought a new MTNL data card and the SIM has been activated. I have done a 4500 6 months top up.

I have tried making it work on my data card, SE X8, Galaxy Tab, but it only makes and receives calls, can't connect to even 2G.

X8, I can't receive settings no matter what I do.

Galaxy Tab, the settings don't work.

Data card Micromax MMX310G, tried manual settings, many settings. It shows HSDPA signal and full strength, but shows dail failed.

I have tried manual and CC settings.

I have talked to the CC around 5-10 times and they have given up. They don't know what the problem is.

I have even talked to Delhi's Special Helpline number (above CC) and they couldn't figure out the problem.

Both of them have told me to go to MTNL's office to get it checked.

What should I do? :(
 
What all APNs have you tried? The one that works for me is 'gprsppsdel'. MTNL network first needs to log into the EDGE network and then into the 3G network so as to use it.

Also, did you register the SIM, and modem with the MTNL network? My modem first asked me to register with a network and only then did it connect.

2. SIM is registered and can accept and make calls.

3. I have tried the default MTNL settings which automatically get updated on Galaxy S and Tab. And also, done what the CC wanted.

How do I get 2G activated? Any code?

And which modem are you talking about? I used with my phone and data card.

How do I register my network. Though it does show Dolphin, MTNL 3g and stuff.

Can you please elaborate?
 
hey rite please PM me the no of Delhi's Special Helpline number...I am also facing problems with the unlimited 3g plan (Rs 4500). donno my plan changed accidentally :/

Same was the problem with me. So what i did was, removed the user name and password from the settings i.e just used the APN 'pps3g' and it worked for me ! Try doing this.

In tab,you just type the apn correctly..leave everything blank.

I do not have the micromax modem,but the ZTE or huawei dialer only need the apn and a dial up no of *99#.

Do not put any username or password.

Did you try the windows dialer?
 
^ i guess mtnl had an entry of username and passowrd along with proxy and port address

these are for mumbai

APN gprsmtnlmum / gprsppsmum /pps3g

PROXY 172.16.39.10 / Blank

PORT 9401 / 9201

USERNAME mtnl

PASSWORD mtnl123

Authentication Type – PAP / Blank

try your luck with combinations of these settings.

because these ssettings are sim specific. i don not know what this means but this what i got from the cc.

for delhi try changing mum to del

and the proxy from 172.16.39.10 to 172.16.31.10

i am not sure what port works on delhi :S
 
So for my mobile I am supposed to only use apn as pps3g and leave everything else blank. Right? Does that include leaving port etc blank?

And for my data card, just apn and dial number? Right?

And what about windows dialer? How to do that?

And why isn't the CC aware of all this? :(
 
Some CC reps are. Other are not.

Try those APNs while leaving the username and password fields blank. Although that never works for me and I use the settings -

APN - gprsppsdel

username - mtnl

password - mtnl123

proxy and others left blank.

My plan is soon come to one month, and I hope they continue with it and not goof up something.
 
My dealer got me to talk to a connection in MTNL and then it worked :D

This is what he made me do:

Name : MTNL

APN : gprsppsdel

Dial No : *99#

Username :

Password :

And the rest as it is!

:P

But the speed is like 700 Kbps avg

Do report back if your speeds improve.

500 kbps was the average speed I was getting for the first two days. After that I am receiving up to 3 mbps downlinks. :)
 
I avg around 600kbps to 1+ Mbps with max being around 1.5-2 Mbps or so and the max for a second being 2.4 Mbps :(
 
MAX till now 3.5 Mbps

It rarely touches 2.4-2.5 Mbps or so

Avg is usually like 0.8 Mbps to 1.8 Mbps, so like 1-2 Mbps or so.

but often it is 500 Kbps or less too.

The speed is not consistent and there are times when it really comes down to 0ish type speeds as well.

However, you can expect to download 4-5 GB within 24 hours if not more than that as a usual thing, sometimes more sometimes less I guess.

Also, my 3.6 Mbps cap perhaps gives these speeds. A faster dongle will perhaps increase the avg to like 1.5 Mbps or so, not too sure on that tho

Happy so far, although I wouldn't call it perfect :P
 
in mumbai it is around 1.5mbps to 2mbps type speeds:(. some two weeks earlier i was getting around 3 mbps easily. i nowadays download around 500MB- 1GB/hour.
 
Initially I was getting tolerable speeds, 0.5-1.5 Mbps with avg around 700-900 Kbps.

But now I get an avg around 200-300 Kbps or less, and often less than 100 Kbps. And I am talking of a small b, not a big b.

It is like I get torrents downloading at 20-30 KBps or so.

Why has it become so slow? :(
