MTNL 3G not working

My speed consistently hovering at 600Kbps at max since last 1 week since the time I've got this MTNL connection and at many places it switched to EDGE or even GPRS for that matter. Using it in iPad and USB modem with similar result. Guess, I will soon switch to reliance 3G as it used to give excellent speed on 2G recharge itself. Even though the speed issue benefit might be gone but even 3G charges are quite decent in reliance compared to their coverage and quality these days.

Reliance 3G is expensive, it is as expensive as with Airtel's Flexishield plan.

1. Airtel 3G gives 2-5 Mbps avg, dunno about Reliance, it might be faster.

2. Airtel Flexishield plan is better than anything Reliance has.

3. Airtel CC is much better than Reliance.

4. For unlimited or huge quantities MTNL is the only way to go :(

Reliance CC is crap.

It is a task to get a new connection from them. I requested a new connection and just to get the sales executive back to me they took about 5 days.

Airtel takes about 2 working hours from a complaint to get the person at your home.

And I have never had a problem which the CC either through sending a person home but mostly through just the phone, which they haven't been able to solve.

Airtel CC rocks. Although FUP isn't good, that is the only downpoint Airtel has.

Had it not been for FUP, Airtel would be second to none.

ROFL @ that

MTNL is the best for heavy usage. I have done 100GB+ in the past 20 days even with frequent disconnections.
what is the data limit in 3g unlimited plan? 200 gb/6 months or 200 gb/month....its not working for me, may be because i have downloaded 200 gb in 10 days.:(

200 gb total for a plan.

If you buy a one month plan then it is for one month but at 1650. If you buy a 6 months plan it is still a total of 200 gb for 6 months, around 200/6 per month effectively, but at 4500 instead for 6 months!

^^^ Am sure it wont be 200Gbs for 6 months man... It is BSNT/MTNL for god sakes i think Reliance/Airtel would be giving better FUP on their unlimited plans...

Airtel doesn't gives any free usage in 3G on roaming and that's a very big downer. Also flexi-shield plan is good but only for big usage. You don't geberally need GBs of free data for use on iPad when u have wi-fi around at most places so a 1 GB plan will suffice on iPad for now and 3G while roaming is a big plus. Also the coverage of Rcom is quite extensive compared to airtel.

Reliance 3g is awesome. It is the most cost effective when compared to the speed it gives. Though cannot afford to use it on pc but i use it on my mobile for browsing in 3g and it is fast and snappy.
Also there are no roaming charges so if you decide to go out though i doubt you may get 3g everywhere ..edge speeds are equally good.

EDGE speed are good but 3G coverage is just awesome at all the places i've been going around. Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Delhi and my friend in Mumbai. Even in few outskirts and small towns it was a full strength 3G. And Rs 749 for 2GB data at such good speed n ping don't hurt although i used Rs 99/2Gb 2G recharge plan till now but it has stopped working at 3G speed in Delhi now.

P.S : me using it on iPad, reson for my low requirement. BTW 2 GB for Rs 400 would have been a sweet deal :)

MTNL 3G card

What all APNs have you tried? The one that works for me is 'gprsppsdel'. MTNL network first needs to log into the EDGE network and then into the 3G network so as to use it.

Also, did you register the SIM, and modem with the MTNL network? My modem first asked me to register with a network and only then did it connect.

Thanks!

Above setting worked fine for me.
