MTNL 3G speeds in mumbai

I'm planning on getting a huawei umg1831

I wanted to know if it's worth it.
How are the speeds from MTNL in mumbai.

What is the best option for 3G internet right now.
Any expedience/comment will be appreciated

Upload is capped to 384kbps while download is capped to 2 Mbps.

But yes sometimes i too have observed that MDMA has showed download at 384 kbps, looks like that particular tower was working only in 3G mode (max 384kbps) and not in 3G+ mode

PS: I think only 3G means upto 384kbps while 3G+ is upto (and more than) 3.6Mbps also knows HSDPA. I may be wrong but :ashamed:
 
hmm if this is true there is no point in getting spending extra for huawei umg1831.

I'm looking to spend around 1000 bucks a month in this. what is the best way to go?

I think there is MTNL unlimited plan available for 750 rupees a month with advance payment for X number of months (i dont know the period)
 
AFAIK, that offer was never available for MTNL customers in Mumbai. It was a Delhi exclusive.

Have you checked with a MTNL sim in MTNL network or you are stating on the basis of speeds of BSNL sim in MTNL network?

For me, in same MTNL Mumbai tower MTNL speeds are capped at 384kbps, BSNl maharashtra capped at 2048kbps, BSNL HP capped at 8096 kbps. Upload for all capped at 384kbps.

do tell me if you are getting it for reasonable price in mumbai.
me along with my friends kept calling an ebay seller in malad.
i think he thought his product is in too much demand :P
so he raised the price from 2450 to 3.5k in two days :rofl:
so not buying from him now.
 
yes even i noticed the price increase. This is why i'm having second thoughts as to whether it's still a good buy.

So what is the best way to go for 3G internet (Mumbai / Pune).

Get a BSNL (Pune) sim and use it in mumbai/pune

Get MTNL sim and use it in mumbai/pune

Go for some other network

I think MTNL charges for data in roaming over BSNL network, so no point using it. Better get BSNL SIM and use it on Mumbai Dolphin network.
 
MTNL doesn't charge anything extra for roaming on BSNL network, in simple words its like INDIA is the network circle for MTNL users.
