My MTNL broadband face frequent disconnections from last 25-30 days.

Line men comes & goes, change cables, check all connections & correct all & went out with haassh at last we fix it... and next day same story replay.

Don't understand whom to contact now as all local officer after every complaint send some one to check they fix & next day ..... same story...

Any email id or contact number whom I can complaint & ask them to find what problem is?

Any help appropriated,

Thanks

Which router do you use? Do you hear any static/ noise on you MTNL handset? can you post current SNR values from your router?

post your SNR & attenuation for upstream & downstream. Further, switching modulation to G.dmt might help, as G.dmt is much more robust & works better on noisy lines than ADSL2+ which is the default modulation.

using D-Link DSL 502T. Sorry for dumbo but where to find/check SNR Values with Dlink 502T :(

Thanks

1. login to http://192.168.1.1
2. enter username & password, default is admin unless you changed it
3. Goto Status.
4. Click on Modem Status.

SNR values should be greater than 10 atleast, anything above 20 should give a stable connection
attenuation should be less than 30

Hope it helps ;)

Hello Gaursih,

Please see attach image for more information, problem is still there :(

Thanks for reply :)

emperor same is the case with me .
Its nothing with the wires or your modem/pc . its MTNL .
They say they have to change frequencies or something . i say its time to say bye bye MTNL . :/
Im looking forward to reliance 999 plan :)

Hello Gaursih,
Its Gaurish :)

The downstream SNR is fine but SNR 12 for upstream is bit low as it doesn't leave margin for error, little bit of disturbance & you would loose the connection. so I would advice you to try to change modulation to G.dmt. The option to do that should be present in Advanced menu. After you have changed the modulation, it should say G.dmt in the ADSL Status. And if that doesn't help, I guess your modem is faulty. so try to verify that by temporary borrowing a modem from somewhere & see if you still have problems.

Btw, is the ADSL/DSL link led stable? or when it disconnects, the link gets broken & led light keep flashing? Let me know the behaviour of the Led indicators on your modem

Thanks for reply :)

No Problem :)

ohh.. it's typo .. sorry :)

Done & changes took place at ADSL status as you said

.... using this modem since 2006 never had problem, even MTNL engineer suggest me not to change this with any latest MTNL modem as latest is not as good as this old Dlink-502T

ADSL led (while no connection) some time keep glowing, some time slight flicker & some time hard flicker & TOTAL BLACK OUT is very rare.

Now ADSL led (connection is on/stable) keep glowing with slight flickering.

Thanks lot :)

any suggestion how to use ADSL led glowing/flickering/off for tracing Problem either in Line or at Server?

Thanks for support & replies :)

@Emperor
So the link is not stable for you, even with ADSL_G.dmt? If yes, then verify the following things

1. No phone/Fax should be connected before splitter.
2. DSL or ADSL LED should be ON and stable. If not glowing or blinking, And the ADSL link:

when stable == OK
when blinking == Data transfer
when not stable == Line is faulty

lastly, since your modem is 6years old. it might be possible, that it has reached its end-of-life. so try to temporarily with other modem & see if there is any improvement. further, you can take this modem to some other place which has broadband connection & ask them to use it for 2-3days. See if they face any problems.

Hi Gaurish,

There is only 1 disconnection after ADSL_G.dmt :)

ADSL led some time flickers (even Ethernet led too flickers with) even when NO TRANSFER or Download but just reading or typing post. Most of other time ADSL led keep stable.

Yesterday I blast person who attend phone call at DGM office & linemen too BOTH of them assured me that they will do their best & problem will be solved soon.

Will do some more test as suggested by you & will post if problem continue.

Today no disconnections so far .... thanks to you & #axeman for help :)

with both ADSL & Ethernet flicker at same time, its perfectly normal. it just indicates packets transfer which happens all the time when you are connected to internet. The only thing is to worry is when ADSL alone flickers. so far that has happened only once.

So it seems your disconnection issues have reduced to great extend :)

That's hardly of any use :bleh:
