thing that is irritating me is that i get more than 2mbps in speed check and when i download i get 25 kb/s :@

ive been wanting to download 3 720p rips and gta 4 episodes from liberty city but that will take ages with this transfer rate :S

thats cuz u r doing ur speedtest within india but cable cut affects data transfer outside india (that too only few countries/places)

Same here. I blasted the Airtel guys last night due to this assuming that it was their fault. RS downloads were painfully slow and fluctuating all over the place, but the HTTP downloads were working fine.

So can we conclude that RS is the culprit here? If it was the Undersea cable cut problem, then why is it only affecting RS downloads?

BTW if I had to choose between MU and Hotfile, which would be an ideal choice? Rapidshare is getting way too costly via dealers.

I just got my new bsnl bb connection few days back -256kbps UL plan..i was getting around 41-50 kbps in torrent and 4-5 kbps in RS..Today morning I used TCPOptimizer and set the settings to optimal-reboot and voila -I am getting 60kbps in RS (on the same file)

Both are better than RS any given time. They dont have any traffic limitations.
HF allows max of 3 IPs. MU doesnt have any such restriction.

But only problem is that HF has more links available than MU.Although MU links are also available but they take lil more than HF to come. Its a tough choice between those 2.
I would have gone with HF just because of wide availability of links :)

Whilst i read ur comments, i was downloading stuff all day yest and i didnt have a speed drop at all.. on Rapidshare premium and the connection was perfect.. This is kinda strange

Max of 3 IP's as in? Being on Airtel, it has a Dynamic IP system, so my first 2 octet's remain the same and the last 2 change. So will this be a problem or do you mean 3 different ISP IP's?

RS working fine now. Looks like the problem has been rectified. :)

Working better but speeds less than 20kbps now . Wow wat an improvement :@:@

Less than 20kbps on 512kbps broadband

Everything working great today. Downloads are @ full speed and Rapidshare has uncapped MTNL and BSNL once again

What a relief !!
