Ask for a DEMO in YOUR AREA before buying ,lot of complaints are there regarding speed lowering after 2 to 3 days ,for customer care a toll free number does exist but not of much use ,their only advice is " disable firewall,do not accept cookies,restart computer "etc etc .
I am getting" good speed" in tamilnadu ,around 800 Kbps to 1Mbps(Max peak is 2910 kbps in tamilnadu)
BUT in BANGALORE(outskirts towards BIAL airport) speed is pathetic (200 Kbps,Max peak 1Mbps).
I borrowed a laptop and checked the speed from MG Road Bangalore upto elevated highway towards HOSUR while travelling ,I got download speed around 1.5 Mbps-1.8Mbps and ping for Colombo server was around 125 ms.
The device is USB modem and comes with USB extension which is handy when the signal strength is not good,when you plug in the device the software installs itself if you follow the on screen instructions .The software is used to connect to the internet in three modes namely broadband ,hybrid and 1X, view balance etc .The software installs easily on windows XP and windows7.
On UBUNTU i could connect after lot of struggle that too 1X mode only ,customer care has no required technical knowledge and i am also a sort of noob with UBUNTU ,customer care has promised that they will resolve the issue in "10 WORKING HOURS " but not yet come with a solution even after three days ,The technical team (I doubt their existence) does not work on Saturdays and Sundays and I am in bangalore only for the weekend.LOL.
