I know current touch screen phones based on capacitive screens support multi-touch input, AFAIK it being "2".

So, am I right, is right now "2" the ceiling or is it more?

And if it's "2" only, is the hardware holding it back or the OS(say, android)

Most high end Android devices like the Galaxy and Galaxy S have 10 points. The HTC Sensation has 4 or 5, AFAIK. Lower end handsets like the ZTE Blade have 2 points.

When playing in Ipod touch 2G fruit Ninja recognized 4 fingers. Didnt try with more since screen was not enough ;)

S^3 : 4/5 finger input in the screen panel but i think its software limited.

N9/N950 : 10 finger input.
How do you test a 10 finger input on a phone :P

Heh , well there debug modes which let you test those :) The same way there used to be a debug mode on the old iPods to test out the Piezo etc ;)

Almost no practical use though for 10finger input.
