CS1.6 - anytime a dozen servers will always be full of ppl. so you can just load up the game and play. good fun even on an outdated system.
CSS - most of the time pub servers in India are not populated. and also CS:Go is going to be released next yr. so doesnt make sense to buy.
CoD 4 - same like CSS less pub players online even though clan scenario is active.
TF2 - bestest fun you can have online (now even for free) I'm playing this from 2007 and even today the game feels new. singapore servers are always full. no dearth of players as it is free. if not for BF3 I would still be neck deep in TF2

BFBC2 - most of the players have moved onto BF3 so I dont see any servers populated even in singapore. so again doesnt make sense to buy.
BF3 - if you have a capable system just go out and buy it, we will have discussions later
edit: Since you have mentioned BF3 is out of budget, just get cs1.6 and download TF2.

Get CS because of its simplicity. Noob or Pro everyone gets the same weapons . So that you wont get the feeling that the other player is superior than you in any way. Its Pure Skill Vs Skill , nothing else.
I just for the sake of time pass, installed and played CS 1.6
hehe yup in an age where BF3 showed its glory in the multiplayer world , I started with an occult classic of the older years.
But you can have fun with any game as long as you shoot the head, see blood and kill an innocent player

or sometimes with my friend. maybe you can start a server and ping me the Ip
ill join in cs1.6 or any other older games

@OP, Why don't you have a go at Wolfenstein enemy territory? One of the best Free multiplayer FPS still being played around. Google search will give you all the things for setting up the game.

Try cod4 ...still the best even after mw2 and 3..IMHO
