Question, how far is the mumbai airport from babulnath (first address), any estimates?

250/- odd by MERU cab.

200/- odd by regular yellow+black rust can.

25 mins if no traffic.

125 mins if traffic.

Mumbai peeps- was that correct? :S

DC, me knows not but after a bit of researching, to reach Babulnath, Grant Road is the sub-urban railway station you need to get down at.

See this map of the sub-urban railway of Mumbai:

File:Mumbai suburban rail map.svg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To get there, the nearest railway station to the Airport domestic terminal would be Bandra Terminus (BDTS).

Take a rick outside the airport to the BDTS. Take a ticket till Andheri and another tick from Andheri to Grant Road.

Get down at Grant Road and take a rick to Babulnath.

Seems like that's one way. Not sure if its the shortest. :P

Assuming he is coming via domestic flight and not some hop-jump thing on an international flight, he get's out at the Domestic airport.

That's technically Santacruz and practically Vile Parle East.

Vile Parle East Rly station will be 5-7 mins away by rickshaw.

He can travel a bit farther to Andheri east station if he wants a fast train but that is not recommended for several reasons.

From there he can buy a ticket and catch a slow train to Grant Road/Marine Lines/Charni road iirc and a cab from there to the exact place?

Not sure about the last station part. :)

This is the cheapest and almost the fastest way to Babulnath from Mumbai airport imho. :)

Bandra Terminus is miles away and not on the direct way to the WR service. :P

There are no ricks allowed beyond Bandra, from Mahim to Churchgate- only cabs and private cars and buses. :)

Gannu- u just told him to go almost 1/3rd distance towards Babulnath, that too a remote terminus for outstations trains, then catch a bridge to the WR part, catch a train, half the distance of the entire journey, back to the Andheri, and then again leave for the full journey.

This is like travelleing 175% almost. :P

^Damn. :ashamed:

Cos I was told BDTS was the closest sstation to the airport domestic terminus and did the rest using the map.

Lol sorry DC. :P

OK, I'll be going to that Aaram Guesthouse from the Airport

As per God Of War

go towards seaface of chowpatty.. after u cross wilson college and next lane, there will be a crystal hotel and above there its aaram guest house. i heard its good and cheap... its about 7 mins walk from that 1st address.

So I have to go to Seaface of Chowpatty(lol) from Airport and book that room in that awesome guesthouse that completes my iternary for the first day. I'll be taking ricks/cabs and wont be taking trains (I do understand that the traffic will be a PITA but I'll have some time to kill on the day I arrive so no probs).

So,

Day 1:Airport -> Aaram Guest house

Day 2:Aaram Guest house -> Babulnath address -> Breach Candy -> Return to Aaram (lol)

Day 3: Aaram Guest House -> Babulnath Address -> Aaram Guesthouse

Day 4: Wait, if required Aaram Guesthouse -> Babulnath Address, If not Aaram->Airport->Hyderabad :D.

That is my iternary in full, now please suggest.

Gannu, that map has all weird names, chinchpokli, mankhurd (man curd?@_@).

Question: Can I eat road-side Wada pavs? I think I ate a wada pav once in my life and liked it, like 3 years back.

Lol seems like DC's in Aaram most of the time as per the itinerary!

But you can trust the map. At least it shows all Mumbai sub-urbs' stations. Just in case! :D

Not sure about road-side vada pavs though. Dont get your stomach into trouble. Jumbo king outlets retails decent vada pavs IINM.

Its risky to have outside [roadside] food in monsoon.. but if ur tempted.. have it hot and tell him to make it fresh in front of you :hap2: hope you enjoy mumbai city. i stay just 5 mins from babulnath and 5 mins from aaram, let me know if u want to meet up for gaming or something :P

Gaming is the last thing on my mind on this trip :| lol, shall meetup for a cup of tea maybe.

Any more peeps with any more info? :(.

Will eat Jumbo Wada Pav, now help with the directions :@ :ohyeah:.

Change in plans, will be coming by train (getting down at CST, any chance of finding good lodges nearby CST station?). Recession :(.

Lotsa cheap places there at one point of time- quite a few shady too. :P

There used to be some 'Bengal Lodge' there at one time.

Maybe still is.

Was quite cheap- cheapo eateries nearby iirc.

Lots of bongs from WB/Assam/Tripura stay there when some family member is undergoing treatment at Tata Memorial. :(

eat JUMBO VADA PAV .......lol very famous.

Not even half as tasty as the stuff sold by Marathi vendors. :cool2:

But a safer bet seemingly, especially during the monsoon.

The freshly fried vadas are not the main issue.

The cold pavs that sit on the shelf with flies feasting on them is the main problem and so is the chutney which may contain tap-water.

DC ill kick ur arse if you eat at those road side vendors. there are quite a few cheap lodges around the CST, look about and u can find a decent one for maybe 1100 or 1500 bux per day maybe cheaper too

and just do your business there and get out, dont go about going places where you shouldnt be going :P

OK, So I need cheap lodges near CST, searching for them now.

I have not been to any of the places mentioned in the link below and cannot vouch for how good any of them are.

Hopefully, you can also have a look at the places mentioned in the link. These are all within 20-30 mins from Babulnath. Mode of transportation would either be by Bus or Bus to Churchgate + Train to Churni Road/Grant Road + Bus/Cab/Walk or Cab to Churchgate + Train + Bus/Cab/Walk or Cab.

Oh, and dont even bother trying YWCA, you will not get anything there :bleh:

Dude, I live like 4 buildings away from chowpatty band stand.. but I dont know any cheap lodging place.. lol..

u can try that place above crystal palace, ( and btw crystal palace is cheap and tasty too.. north indian type of food..) how long will you be staying for?

edit: found out from OP.. I'll ask my dad tomorrow in the morning and let you know..

going from chowpatty to breach candy will cost less than 30 bucks..

and from CST to chowpatty should cost less than 50 bucks..
