If I could afford it then using a tablet is way better than having to lug around text/notebooks and keep track of your pen, pencil etc which become useless and impossible to organize after a year. Instead of learning calligraphy we can use that time to learn something more functional like carpentry or lighting farts or something :P

This is ridiculous IMO, I can understand professional colleges making it mandatory for laptops as frankly I had to do a lot of presentations in college and doing it in the lab was not as nice as doing it in some remote corner of the campus with your group.

As it is people's handwriting skills are so bad that making kids use ipads so early in life will do only harm to their handwriting skills. Not to mention they are sure to use it more for games rather than anything educational.

In my management class we hardly used our laptops for anything other than to make PPTs and browse the net for information. Professional course students are mature enough to use these devices, I seriously doubt the same maturity will be displayed by school kids.

We are speaking of the elite schools. But making them get an iPad, IMO is not the correct thing to do as it is with all small kids, it may be damaged. Rather start small. Then go for iPads.

Chanced upon this: :P

^^So True

On thing i always craved for, when i was in school was that Button Compass. I mean you press that button and sharpner compartment opens, another button pressed and the pencil / pen slot slides out. That was the ultimate show off :D

Saw this in the papers. A pretty lame step to take.

Just an interactive board would be enough.

IPads for such young kids will only hamper their growth and motor skills.

.

But I guess a lot of them would want to be chefs after a fruit ninja duel :-)

I actually know some families who may get their children enrolled in this school for this particular feature, and beam proudly in kitty parties when the son opens his first video on the youtube app: a racy sunny leone number. . "chotu, kitna shaitan ho gaya hai aajkal" .

Damn the button compass box was amazing! it was the must have. as for oil pastels during art class the normal kids got the camel 12 sticks of oil pastels but if you wanted to stand out you could get the big 24 shades or 48 shades.
