The recent events in MUMBAI have dented the cosmopolitan spirit of the city. The MNS (although i used to have RESPECT for this party) has gone onto an irrational rampage which has done nothing but instilled skepticism in the minds of INDIANS about the safety of NON-Maharashtrians in Mumbai. Its just not a question of a city but the question of having the freedom to live and think freely without any inhibitions. Its the political ambitions of one person which have translated into homelessness for many, and this is nothing but deplorable.
Its all right being patriotic on the world cup finals, Republic day and Independence day but its not enough. The recent events demand an awakening, an awakening that can establish the spirit of brotherhood and prosperity. So pour in your views here .....
No offence to any one !
my mom herself is a maharashtrian and i am too very well-versed with marathi.
my very good friends belong to maharashtrian community.
but this incident has made things go awry...
Last but not the LEAST .. i condemn Violence.
PS: DO R-E-S-P-O-N-D
just dont sit and read this. ur comments might help some young minds to change their beliefs and understand the meaning of brotherhood.
Please also try not to offend anyone but to prove that WE are ONE .
during the riot period, i was also one of those ppl who happened to be travelling to Dadar and Back. but the situation was just so tense. at that moment atleast, it was not at all about speaking marathi and respecting maharashtrian traditions ( i speak excellent marathi and all the maharashtrian rituals and festivals are followed and performed at my house time to time coz we love it ) but it was about beating anyone who came in those people`s way.
i myself saw 4-5 childrens catching hold of a Hindu Person riding his bicycle then beating him up. they were so small that their hands dint even reach his face as they wanted to slap him ... but they did beat him and no one cared to save him.
read in news papers:
1 Maharashtrian Couple and 1 Maharashtrian were beaten by this people as they mistook them to be NON-Maharashtrians as the couple was talking in hindi like anyother college going group and the guy alone looked fair and healthy to be mistaken as a HINDU....
Bhaiyya a synonym to call someone u dont know with RESPECT (atleast i thought so...):
Mind u .. I hate that word Bhaiyya now ( feels sick even to call my bro with tat name)... i do used to call autowala`s , pani puri wala`s irrespetive of their religion as bhaiyya (mind u not all taxi drivers, hawkers are non-maharashtrians, as it has become a synonym to call an unknown person as bhaiyya.....) . but u shud never tease anyone for his religion with that word.
This is nothing but the debacle of current political scenario.
....ppl here still tend to ignore this issues and i bet samething will happen with this thread.
ppl wont reply here thinkin y to get into this issue, but they dont realise it WILL someday affect their lives too..
