No idea about the shop but I recco you get a Takamine guitar for him bcoz he has a nice 10k budget. The G220 model from Takamine's G series should be available in that budget :). Stay away from the Givsons, Hofners, Hobmers, Granadas, etc...
 
There are a couple of shops ahead of Eva mall, in front of catholic church.One next to the building(Raheja Chancerry) next to Brigade Towers at the end of the same road.

The best two places to buy guitars from in Bangalore are Reynolds Inc. on Brigade and Furtados in Kormangla, I would say go talk to the guy in Furtados(if he's still there,DK is his name, he plays awesome) and then check the prices at both places and also Soundglitz(bgd road) coz usually furtados is expensive, my friend recently got a yamaha acoustic for 4600 at reynolds where as it was 7 sumthn at furtados(even though they are official yamaha suppliers).

Ya n the takamine suggested above is damn gud, if u get it in d budget, takamine's are warm, but if he wants to play on an amp u wont be able to get a takamine in dat budget with pikups, get a yamaha with pikups in dat case, othawise the suggested takamine is good, make sure u haggle, coz u can haggle.

oh and dont forget to get a case and that adds to the cost, keep in mind.
