Hi all

I bought MX5021 nearly 2.5 years back

It sounded great for few months, but after that subwoofer started making weird sounds (dhupp..dhupp), very bad bass sound...
Mostly at more than 30% system volume.

I even bought Asus-Xonar DX, but it also was not able to improve anything.

The only thing that comes to mind is that the 3.5mm audio cable connecting MX5021 to speakers was damaged and i changed it with cacle i got with creative inspire speakers.

And sometimes those speakers were used at 80-90% volume in beginning.

Also sount output I get from Creative Inspire 2.1 is much higher and better than MX5021 and I had to pack it in the end.

I heard last week from a friend that it might be bue to the 3.5mm stereo cable I am using. According to him, this cable has some 3 wires in it, whereas the cable bundled with MX5021 has 4-wire design. So, getting a MX5021 compatible cable would help....

Will it help....

Any other suggestions ?
if not, where to get my speakers repaired ?

There's no such thing as a 4-wire design for the MX. The MX uses the very same stereo cable with the 3.5mm TRS connectors at the ends. Don't know what your friend was referring to there!

A loose connection in the connectors may result in a weak bass or sound output not coming from one of the satellites or both. Which results in a weak sound output from the speakers. Get a cable from MX and see if it helps. It is also possible that the female jack on the rear of the sub has been damaged.

Did you try connecting the cable to the aux. in present on the console? Does it result in the same output?

I've heard of loose subwoofer drivers in the Mx5021's newer batches. The fact that yours is occurring at low levels probably indicates this. It may also be a damaged sub. If you need to turn them to 80-90% volume, you need new speakers or ears, or both.

Has ur MX5021 been repaired ?

I have been using my MX5021 for the past 5 years. I have recently got an IC prob which am unable to fix it.
Please check your sub-woofer for IC prob..
