Laptops My battery stops charging

I have an HP EliteBook 840 G2 running on Windows. I didn't use it much,
8 months ago, I changed the OEM battery because the old one was weak. I started noticing about a month ago that the battery stops charging at 80%, and I thought that was due to the BIOS limiting the charge to 80%.

Last week, the battery wouldn't charge past 16%, and I suddenly noticed the battery going dead. I checked with Power off charging method didn't work. Now, it is at 2% and won't charge higher.

I am going to use the laptop until it reaches 0%. After I change the battery,

I connect it to my monitor and keep it plugged in. This doesn't have bypass charging.

I need assistance to prevent this issue from happening again.

Try opening laptop and replug the battery
Yes, I tried, but no changes
This phrase is so popular that when you do it, devices usually develop serious daddy issues like,
"You are not my real power supply"

and after a while....
BOOT DENIED!
I bought the battery from local reseller. well-known to me. I bought it for a cheap price of 1200, with a 6-month warranty. No problems arise when I changed the battery by myself.

Just hope that when you switch back to original battery, it charges to 100% despite giving low backup, if not then it would indicate a problem within the laptop not the battery. Because your new battery worked fine for 8 months, so this behavior is not normal.

I thought the issue was that using a laptop while plugged in might have damaged the battery.

I bought the battery with 100% health

I just remembered that we can check the battery health in the BIOS menu; I totally forgot about that.

I'll update you on the health.
