Neve knew; twas so much of fun..

The guest of honour was the warden of the hostel.. :P

He was pretty pi$$ed with my room after everythin.. :D

@Harshal: Buddy, I made this DICE pot fer < 600 bucks!!! ;)

(160-->base plate; 305-->2 " cylinder; 20-->m.seal; 100-->6 sand papers); and easily did d thing.. I wonder why'd u want to pour in 5 grand fer tat CNC-made component!!

Any noob cud do this with a bit of a C-Sense I guess...

Damn... Cudn get past the spartans tho... ;)

Mods; can we've the scoreboard updated plz...

PS: i'm the one with the yellow glove.. The others're my friends.. SId, Deepak, Sid n Sharath.

Try a couple of 3dmark runs along with a quad and then you'll see why we need "tat CNC-made component" :)

nice score btw

Nice Results!! Also G0 to B2.. I will say lets not compare :) Both chips are good in there own ways., no doubt about it there. But what matters is you did not kill anything and managed to get it going for your budget!

for POT: Hehe, I did coz I wanted to. Also, I was never into ghetto things... but then its just me. My pot, well it looks worth 5K + [free machining] and gives me a much better control while benching alone :P

Thanx h..

Well this worked just fine..

And i'd say this'd easily handle 3dm'06.. Tho not at 519 fsb..

I'll deal with tat later n get back..

Nice. :D
How did you attach the cylinder to the plate?? BTW how did you bolt it down- i see no holes on the base plate. :ashamed:
This is as exciting as the time when i had the urge to fry something and used my TTBT on my chip for a week without bolting it down and the living room was curfewed for my parents.

@apo- why would I want to test a quad anyways.
I'm fine with a c2d.. ;)

besides we'll have d 3dmark'06..

@bikey- tried to braze it but our college ac workshop ppl were closed.
So did m.seal n it sure did work..
Most of d machinin was done in my college itself includin d li'l lapping of d base..
Tat ruined my thumb yest.. :(

Set it at 1.625v in d bios.. But forgot to look into d actual readings.. Man, d dice got me lurin into it...

Afaik, the ram did its best.. Several attempts to set a 520 fsb failed to boot.. Ram voltage was set at 2.45volts.. I was a lot scared wen twas set at tat..

Heh yeah those are pretty high volts.. Sweet timing tho!

Thanx ankit..

Wish I'd one of those ballistix rams.. Sigh.. :(

The worst part being, cudn get hold of 3dm'06..

Hey Gannu- got a doubt? :ashamed:

If we anyways gotta pair a plate to a cylinder, does it matter if we use Aluminium or brass or anything similar, and obviously cheaper than copper, for the cylinder coz its gonna store the dice na. :ashamed:

Plate should be strictly copper cos its got d best coefficient of thermal conductivity.. Aluminium comes next.. It ensures tat as dice's poured with a reagent, the temp drop's instantly transferred to d cpu core..
So base plate's got to be copper..
Cylinder can be virtually anything strong enough to hold d dice.. I guess for tat matter even pvc with appreciable thickness of 2-3mm shud do.. :)

and what were the timings ??? GSkill not able to do 520FSB seems bad and that too @ those insane volts. or were you still trying 4-3-3-8??? Those Gskill seem to do CAS 5, 625 FSB @ around 2.2-2.3V in what i have seen on mine and XS.

ahem.. ahem... 'affordable' coefficient of thermal conductivity :P
Hehe, man you seem to be alert. But I think he forgot to mention 'affordable' part... he said "copper is BEST" and I am sure I am right when I said "Silver is better then copper". ;)
