well QF, can you peacefully open the drive ? , else i can assist you in doing it if required.

(and keep some cotton ear buds , a small brush, within reach as we would be requiring those to clean the drive)

k..opened up the drive peacefully...

wat next?

PS: cud you plz come on MSN? you'll be able to guide me better. :)

qf, are you sure the dvd's are finalized & not multi-session, get or burn a finalized dvd-r just to be sure.

atleast the drive is working after that major "surgery" of urs this afternoon.
as for not reading dvd-R well as i had stated in my very first post there was a very slim chance of it doing that even if we cleaned the lens.
remember those two potentiometers i had pointed out.?? tweaking one of those (the dvd one ) "can" / "maybe" rectify this problem.....

Also just keeping the drive idle (unpowered , outside the case) for a day or two has known to "cure" this problem. no logical or scientific reason behind this phenomenon ....

finalized or not, the same dvds worked on the same drive on same pc two weeks ago..so theres no reason why they wont work now unless theres a problem with the lens.
