My E4300 Overclock Results

About orthos,i've read quite a few bad remarks about it like running prime in dual mode is better,also OCCT is good enough right? Just curious thats all..Also wondering how long do i run both OCCT/ORTHOS? i've seen forums where ppl run it for 12 hrs! i'm running both for 2-3hrs(scared if i'll overstress the proccy).
Ok now ,increment the speed by 15-25MHz run orthos for a while.Once the maximum is reached,i should increase the volt to 1.9,then test it...Once i get no errors... should start tightening the timings.Hope i got it right!

I'm kinda getting the hang of overclocking,this is what i've understood..On overclocking the RAM,once i get any error i should increase the volt a bit right?not going beyond the volt capacity of the RAM...Am i right?

yes u r right...:)

about orthos and OCCT, OCCT does tend to stress the proccy more but orthos is good enough for initial testing..

once u have finalized ur settings on the RAM and CPU, then u can run both the tests for 12 hrs or so to make sure the rig is stable for 24X7 operation..

Like processors, every RAM is different, with VFM h/w one sometimes gets lucky, other times doesnt...

Try OC'in your RAM as best as you can, after that there isn't much you can do..

Besides performance increase with RAM isnt as high as OC'in the CPU / GPU..about 10-15% max, that too on apps that are memory intensive..

mmm...my overclocking of the same RAM didnt yield good results....i tried running on 800Mhz @ 2.13~, it did work but as soon as some load was put on the RAM the screen would start showing artifacts, though you can try running it on 733Mhz, i have left mine on default 667Mhz since didnt see any benefit in Prime 1M and 2M score when running on 800Mhz

@deepak
RAM doesn't overclock much,windows loads only at default speed...Is it because i have kept the timings as 4-4-4-15?Just wondering whether the timings are important or the speed?
@thebanik
Since you left it at the default speed,Have you tightened the timings?

yup they are on 4-4-4-12-2T...how much volts did you pass on for your rams...as i said mine did load to windows and did run prime 1M and 2M as well...but while running prime 32M there would be errors along with artifacts...maybe giving it more than 2.1~ would have resolved the issue but didnt have the guts to increase the volts further.

@thebanik
I'm running it at 1.9V,What about you? btw how much did ya buy th CoolerMaster AquaGate mini R80 for?

volts on stock as is the ram for now, as said earlier did work on 2.1~ for 800Mhz but was not stable enuf for 24x7 operation....i bought the cooler for Rs. 3700.:hap2:

^^^^that doesnt sound too good...coz the operating volt for these memory is 1.8v...once your system oc is done and stable...go ahead and oc your GC and post the results...:D

DOn't know why i just can't tighten the timings either even at default speed and volt...Althought i ran OCCT for 2 hrs stable,When i restart sometimes it does not boot,and i feel it is taking longer time to load nvdia ntune(system tray) and also the ethernet icon on the task bar..

I'd suggest that stick with the current clock of RAM speed @667 and tight timings....thats not bad either...

u have got an excellent overclock on ur CPU for a noobie :bleh:
be content with that..
get hold of some good RAM later and overclock it then :)

till then stabilize the system..

dont loose too much sleep betwwen 4-4-4-12 and 4-4-4-15..not much of a performance gain..

Thanks a Lot you guys for teaching me to overclock :hap2: Trust me i had no idea how complex it is.I used to think its just increasing the FSB thats all.Now i've learnt something.I've left the RAM at default volt and speed...I can tighten the timings to 4-4-4-15 when i bump the volt to 2.0.Is it ok? or shall i leave the RAM at defaults?
