While this software is indeed very useful, it seems to be crippled, allowing transfers at only 512 KB/s. I guess to use it at full speed, you'll need to shell out $$ for the 'Professional' version.

I've used TestDisk for these scenarios, and its saved my butt a few times. It's a Linux tool that has been ported over to Windows via Cygwin, so it still retains the console based UI. However it is good functionally. The docs in the Wiki should help you to understand how to use it.

^ ya thats right, the trial version of partition F&M, allows you to transfer data at 512kbps, and you have to buy the product for getting maximum speed.
