ohk....thnx a tonne guys....so my preference now wud be prime ..now tht i know where it is...

there are some good kutchis though...the guy at challenger is a nice guy...soft spoken...jolly.... prices were just abt right too.. cheapest price for 1800 antibiotic cabby...only the abit ip35 e was some 100 rs extra...rest all fine prices...

the one wid most attitude was the cassette world guy..wasnt even enquiring abt the peripherals i wrote on the quotation list...just quoted some random shit..

I think the name of the lane Prime is located in is called Tara Temple lane. If you ask anyone on the main street where it is they'll tell you.

i actually bought a optical mice from this Casette World shop. He treats you like dirt. Gave me a defective mice and even refused to do help me claim the warranty.

About those small traders on main street (the kutchchi speaking ones) , even i have had a crappy experience from them. forget about aftersales if u buy from them. Some of them dont even have basic knowledge of the hardware they are selling. Leave that they dont even have the decencey to speak to a customer who is spending thousands Rs in their shop.

lolll....this reminds me of something really very very funny.....when i went to inquire price of a 320gigger i wanted to buy the guy at the counter was aghast why i was buying a 320....so i said well quote me for a 500 too......

he : 500wd ya 500 seagate
me : 500 seagate
he : calls someone , speaks their language , then asks me ide ya sata
me : sata
he : 5500rpm ya 7200rpm
me : *open door, walking out already*

recently 90% of my stuff i prefer my local dealer......
1) i have been buying stuff from him for years
2) he has decent knowledge of the stuff he sells
3) i do market research , show him the prices of lamington
4) if he can better them he betters or equals them or honestly adds 25rs. as premium to those individual prices if he cant equal / better them for those things and discounts me on other stuff that he has on stock....

ultimately i end up spending 100-200 buks on a 10k spend......
benefits-
1) i dont roam 10 shops on lamington
2) i know my dealer so i can get back to him anytime
3) saves travelling time / shopping time / roaming time
4) saves a lot of energy

Exactly what I used to do when I was living in Thane... when he couldn't reduce the prices as per my sources, my local dealer would upfront tell me what prices he was getting and add 50-100 rs. depending on the item, which I didn't mind paying. He was accessible, would take care of any replacements in case of problem.

Since I've moved to Ghatkopar, it becomes almost the same for me to either travel to Lammy or Thane. So I prefer going to Lammy directly. I used to roam around in different shops for best prices at first... but thanks to TE (Specially Eazy sir) I came to know about Prime and been dealing with them ever since my first purchase (my current rig).

Just so you know... recently I purchased Logitech X-540 from them (5.5k), while a local dealer in ghatkopar from whom I purchase small accessories regularly quoted me 6k for the same. He was going to get the set from Lammy only, so in the end adding the train travelling cost for my office-boy it turned out cheaper to get stuff from Lammy itself.

happens everywhere. Was asking around for an obsucure motherboard to three TVM dealers ( I'm on first name basis with 2 of them) - One of them called up the supplier to check availablity , and he said that the supplier had been getting calls for the same obscure model , and by the third shop, had figured it out and told the dealer to tell me that there is no point and its not available :P

@greenhorn

Seems some of them have monopoly & thats bad for consumers like us.

I have felt somehow that some of the shop keepers dont prefer end customers being able to buy whatever they want. they would prefer one more link in the suppply chain namely a guy who assembles & sells to the end consumer , it gives them more chance of fibbing around.

Is that too cynical on my part ?

what i've learned from this "shops which are NOT located on the main street tend to offer a better deal" .. i will follow this when i go there the next time .. thanks mate .. that was a valuable information :)

Roaming at 7-8 shops in lammy is good , only if anyone is buying a whole PC...some times small shop can provide better pricing.

Well, i really do have a doubts on your story is this a ploy to get Prime Popularize? to get some more publicity

well i went to price it quoted me the highest price for Cm690 in relative to other seller on lammy as well as for Corsair PSU,

so for me this a definelty a cook up story, to generate more sales on for prime and get some more publicity,

Lol, I'd still vouch for Prime. They've a pretty decent customer service. In fact I'd my entire rig shipped from Mumbai to Coimbatore last yr, including the CM690 enclosure. During the transit, the DVD-RW damaged and Prime did replace it with a SH223B upon sending them the damaged drive. :cool2:

Peeps here've better experiences than mine relating to their service. I wont mind paying a couple of hundred bucks more if it has to be bought from Prime than anywhere.

Bingo... although I would say, "I wouldn't mind spending couple hundred bucks for better ASS and peace of mind"... and in my experience, it's better with Prime so far than other shops that I've dealt with before.

(ASS = After Sales Service, for you dirty minded pervs) :bleh:

Even Mccan experience wasn't that good (yes, I'm taking names)... as it lured me with cheap prices at first, but when it came to support the true colors came out.

I don't think Pabgb charge more for ASS, but you requires to bargain as I read some where in this thread only. First search & confirm the price here on TE or any other thread suitable to you. Make a product list with Price, ask prime to beat, if not, they may equals it & hence ASS is bonus :hap2:.

No I don't have any experience with Prime whether they prefer to bargain or become rigid, but some where I read they are flexible with regular buyers.

Eazy & Sangram and many other Well Known member on TE prefer to buy from Pabgb from long time, as per me Cheap Price can not bind customers for long but it is After Sales Service which attract consumer to buy neglecting the factor over priced (by 100/200 rupees).

OT: Though I like to buy from local & old h/w dealer whom I trust will help me in disaster. My last purchase from my dealer was 3 years back @3200/- (Rs.250 more compare to lemington road price) but he still ready to give me any service, in last 3 years I visit 2 times (no problem related to H/W purchased from him :ashamed: ), he fixed it @ ZERO CHARGES, so this save mine Rs.500/- (250x2).

This is what called AFTER SALES SERVICE not by LAW but by WISH :)

@panther: There are numerous examples on this forum about Prime and almost all of them have nice feedback about Prime. Credit should be given where it's due.
