Faulty Psu = High Electric bill ?

possible ?

NAH .... electricty units used is same as before ... electric supply company doubled rates ... what was a 2 month bill is now a one month bill :( :( Now we spend more on Electricity then on any other item in monthly expense .. all my computer upgrade plans stand cancelled.

@medpal.... in my 24 years of computing this is the first PSU to die on me in such a fashion :( I had read in forums about this potential exploding problem with the TPII 550 PSU.

@bikey ... YUP even my Antec was getting hot in summer.... the first indication I had I may be having problems with the PSU was that the power switch at the back of PSU started making crackling sounds when touched. Hmmmmm .... I think the wires on this switch may have shorted with a BANG ....

Hmm...that was bad..

But well its nice to know other components were fine. I also did have a PSU problem long back with one of my old comps...and I had smoke coming out from the back:rofl: That was some sight!!!! hehehe, now I can laugh at it, but at the very instant it was more like a heart attack :P

And, I was lucky that no other component was effected :bleh:

And, being so close to the sea has its own disadvantages. I had to get my Samsung UCCC RAM replaced shortly after I bought it as one of them it seems, had gone bad due to humidity when my house was closed for a few days that I was away.

Now I make it a point to keep the comp on for atleast 6 hrs a day:bleh: Ofcourse in 3 shifts of 2 hrs each :P
I really cant keep it on for more than that due to some visiting relatives!!!
BTW, welcome back:D

GREAT to be BACK !!

YUP I had one of those heart thingies too when my PSU went BOOM :)

Take care with the starting and stopping and restarting of PC .... my problem happened when as usual I shut PC at lunch time and when I powered on around 3 hours later - it had rained a lot that afternoon and there must have been an arc caused my extreme moisture between 2 points in PSU :(

Now as long as the humidity levels is over 70% I have started switching on PC around 6 AM when I get up to switch off AC and I leave the PC on for full day till I switch on AC at night around 10 PM. This way no moisture can accumulate in PC.... fingers crossed ...

Well.. Bad Luck... and congrats both :D.

I never open my windows, for the same reason, and I run my AC (w/ Air cleaning mode) which is supposed to clear humidity from the air. :). Ofcourse, not the whole day though :/.

My OGeneral AC has a dry mode which reduces the humidity level down to below 50% from the "stock" level which is around 80% these days - but when the AC is switched off and the windows and doors are opened the moisture rushes into the room and forms droplets on all surfaces - this is the PC KILLER !!! :O ..... needless to say I never use my AC in this "dry" mode.

@TheMask ... HEY BUD !!!
