hey ppl thanks a lot..
u guys helped me a lot to decide the config for my rig...
i know its not upto the mark as u guys told.. but i mhappy :D

core 2 duo 1.86 ghz
1 gb ddr 2 ram
altec lansic mx 5021 speakers
samsung syncmaster 940bw
Intel original D946GZIS mother board.
what more to mention ... :huh:
seagate 160 gb sata hard disk

here r sum snaps..

946 board from Intel perhaps - I'd seen a few Intel boards on the market and bought the DG965RY for a friend last week :P

Nice. I really like those speakers. The Sound clarity is awesome. The 2.1 speakers costs abt 6k and its worth it.

I bought the DG965WH. Havent installed it yet. But it has raid, 7.1 audio etc which 965ry doesnt have.

@ Sumeet: Very Nice Rig, the MX5021 is just great :D, But the placement of the Sub n Sats isnt good IMO. A sub actually should be placed on the floor, so that u can feel the Vibrations. Also the Sats should be placed on either side of the LCD to get the best Effect.

Just my 2c :D

ya me picked up one too.. quite a few of these are being sold along with c2d rigs in chennai :D

and congrats on your new rig sumeet :ohyeah: and would suggest you to keep the sub on the floor :)

yea even the manual also mentions to keep the subby on the floor.. but the problem is .. will it b safe lolz... i mean i m sure the kaam wali bai wont take extra care to wipe the floor near my sub woofer na :P hehe anyways will it really improve the perfermance if i place it on the floor?
 
sumeet, if you are reluctant to keep it on the floor keep it right next to a wall, or if possible, at a corner. the only thing a sub needs is to be near a room boundary... down, left , right doesnt matter... you can even nail it to the ceiling and get the same performance :lol: (serious)
 
i see..

so i kept it on the floor.. now .. and one of my friend told me to keep it faced diagonally to the corners..

n the edge of my woofer is not touching the walls.. so will dat b a problem??
 
Well if you push the woofer to the corner you'll get more bass, move it away and u'll get less bass. Put it at a place which seems like perfect to you. Ofcourse bring those satellites down to ear level. The should be place such that the tweeters are at ear level. Make sure that the bass indicator on the control pod is at 1 and no more or else you'll get boom.
 
if you place it at an edge, the bass will increase, but chances are , the boom will increase too. if you place it at a corner, you'll get overpowering bass with WAY too much boom. the corner position is recommended for all those cheap and underpowered subwoofers. An MX 5021 IMHO shouldnt need that kind of placement ... it can come up with the bass on its own :P
