Well, i recently got a 64 bit original Kubuntu 7.04 CD. I tried installing it on my system. And i must say it really sucks. I am sorry to say this but its true. I was so delighted before installing it but ended up so frustrated.
First of all, the installation was NOT EASY. Windows is a breeeeze. The problem was with partitioning. Anyways, somehow it was done. Till now i already lost 50% of excitement.
So i started my comp and booted this new OS for the first time. I must say it looks good but nothing is easy. People always said its easy on resources and is very fast but it was actually slower than windows XP.
I know every new thing needs some time to be spent with it, but this is just not easy. Why should i waste my time on something so rubbish. I tried connecting my speakers to a port which windows would instantly recognise while kubuntu didnt do anything.
I tried playing a song and it said "no MP3 support". Now am i being expected to download that?? Even a cheap mobile OS has support for MP3 !!
I tried playing videos but it would just not recognise them. Lets leave this personal stuff.
I put a CHIP magazine DVD and nothing happened. I tried to go in K>optical storage and all....but bloody nothing was there as if there was no CD.
Am i supposed to teach it each and everything. It maybe be more customizable than windows but tell me why are we using computers? Only to make our lives easy !!
And this thing needs u to have a degree from a Linux school !!
I am not a total beginner with computers but still faced so many stupid problems....
I would give it 00/10
Abuse me Linux lovers but this really left me so frustrated.
Goodbye Kubuntu.
