Well, i recently got a 64 bit original Kubuntu 7.04 CD. I tried installing it on my system. And i must say it really sucks. I am sorry to say this but its true. I was so delighted before installing it but ended up so frustrated.
First of all, the installation was NOT EASY. Windows is a breeeeze. The problem was with partitioning. Anyways, somehow it was done. Till now i already lost 50% of excitement.
So i started my comp and booted this new OS for the first time. I must say it looks good but nothing is easy. People always said its easy on resources and is very fast but it was actually slower than windows XP.
I know every new thing needs some time to be spent with it, but this is just not easy. Why should i waste my time on something so rubbish. I tried connecting my speakers to a port which windows would instantly recognise while kubuntu didnt do anything.

I tried playing a song and it said "no MP3 support". Now am i being expected to download that?? Even a cheap mobile OS has support for MP3 !!
I tried playing videos but it would just not recognise them. Lets leave this personal stuff.

I put a CHIP magazine DVD and nothing happened. I tried to go in K>optical storage and all....but bloody nothing was there as if there was no CD.

Am i supposed to teach it each and everything. It maybe be more customizable than windows but tell me why are we using computers? Only to make our lives easy !!
And this thing needs u to have a degree from a Linux school !!

I am not a total beginner with computers but still faced so many stupid problems....
I would give it 00/10
Abuse me Linux lovers but this really left me so frustrated.
Goodbye Kubuntu.

Nah, we wont abuse you, but I hope someone with enough time on their hands explains to you why there's no mp3 support in a free OS, kinda busy right now, but dont let Kubuntu affect your idea of a linux distro, M$ has us addicted to their systems, I myself am in the process to shifting, dunno which distro to shift to though, but, kubuntu was never a choice.

And kubuntu atleast wont "Just Work".

This thing needs intelligence not a degree from linux school.

Windows needs a video codec pack to play all videos including dvds, same thing with linux. unfortunately it also needs a codec to play mp3s. If you had chosen your distro properly you would not have faced these issues.

So i would give you a rating of 0/10

Now we know that you have a rating of 0, it also means that you got confused with / and /swap. Thatz y u faced these installation issues.

People also say that you should first check your hardware before you install any distro to see if it will run properly. Some distros of linux are easy on resources some are not, you chose the one which is not.

You are not supposed to teach it anything, you are supposed to teach urself everything.

Welcome to the wonderful world of linux, if you are scared of all these problems ur free to go back to the windows cocoon, but if want to learn some new things, we will help you.

It suggested you kubuntu, ubuntu bcoz you cheated wen u took the test.

Hardcore Newbies should try mandriva, xandros or linspire.

So anyways you go back to your windows cocoon and wen ur ready, come back , we will still help you.

okey, i guess i abused linux a lot. Just checked ubuntu at a friends friend place and it was VERY cool. Sorry guys, i was very fed up that day becos i almost messed up with the hard-disk while trying to partition without all the knowledge.

So, guys which OS do u all suggest for me to use... I want my desktop to look like it looks in ubuntu with all those sparkle effects...:cool2:
