Hi guyz,

My wife's Gall stone operation has been performed today. I know that it is not a critical operation but still, you know, obvious fear and tension was there the whole day. At last, I am now a bit relaxed after talking to her in the evening. The 2 gall stones, sized at 1.45 cm each are now lying beside me on the table. Laporoscopy is done.

Now after the operation, Dr Roy presented a seminar regarding health consciousness and laporoscopy operation. He also showed us a live video of an operation, starting from anesthesia to cutting out the gall bladder completely. I am really thrilled to see that how much skill as well as perfection is required to do such an operation. The whole motto of this seminar was to make us aware of our health. He told us how he found out blood sugar 360 for one of his friends who never checked it before. His friend is a software engineer. There were also lots of other real life stories where negligence towards health resulted in premature death.

Hence, the message I want to convey to all of you is never ever neglect your health. There are lots of critical diseases which have no symptoms, only way is to have regular medical check up. Almost all of these diseases are curable totally if they are detected in early stage. But most of us neglect this fact totally, we all end up consulting the doctor at a stage where nothing can be done (for diseases such as blood cancer, pancreatitis, etc). So guyz, please do not neglect your health. Some basic check ups can detect the disease at an early stage. Some tests are as following:

1. Blood Sugar

2. TC BC

3. Ultrasonography

4. Liver function test

5. ECG

6. Xray

7. Creatinin

8. Lipid profile

There are some more tests also which I don't remember right now. Just go to the nearest clinic and have a routine check up regularly. This can seriously save your ass from a lot of diseases. Even we check the water pump in our house at regular interval by consulting a technician but we completely ignore the pump that is constantly pumping the blood inside our body right from our birth. So guyz, please be conscious regarding your health.

Thanks a lot for reading a long post.

:)

May your wife recover soon!

I myself had to get a MRI done just a few days back, nothing serious came out of it fortunately.

I'm already in consultation with my family doc to get a time table made for check ups.

That is the thing I am gonna follow also now onwards. Good to hear nothing serious has happened to you. Continue your check up and get well soon.

:)

Glad to hear that your wife is doing fine. Our wishes that she'll be back to normal soon.

It is indeed sad that most of us ignore our body when it is working fine. Like any other machine, the human body too needs regular checkups and maintenance. Unfortunately, we order our priorities in the wrong way, giving least importance to our health. It is not necessary to visit the doctor only when you are ill, you can do it even when you are healthy.

Good wishes to your wife and thanks for sharing. I have been thinking of going for a routine checkup. However my laziness always held me back... it has been more than a year :(

Reading your post, I feel motivated to get the above set of check ups done at least once a year.

Best wishes for your wife's recovery :D

In my case apart from being lazy, I am also paranoid that the hospitals have their rather than my best interest in mind and hence will have to shell out money for pointless tests. Kind of a stupid reasoning but anyway, have not had any tests done in the past 3 years.

That is what the post is for, to make all of us be conscious about our health. I am glad that you feel the urge for a check up after reading my post.

:)

Thanks Gannu and MK76.

glad to hear that your wife`s operation went smoothly and she is recovering fast. Hope her a very quick and complete recovery.
Now onwards she will have to be a little carefull while eating fat loaded diet as she will feel bloated stomach after it due to removal of gallbladder.

PS : on a joking note : if every indian citizen becomes health conscious, me and other medicos here will storm the show off section completely :P
