Ne music system

Guys, if I want to build up a component based system, what components do I need to buy/obtain/have? I know nothing of such systems.

There are 3 ways to buila component based system...
1 is when you have lodsa cash to spare and you built it using high-end branded off-the-shelf components

2a is when you are short on cash, yet want a moderate quality compoenet based say 5.1 setup or maybe a plain 2 channel system so you pick up decent quality locally assembles amps, speakers, CD unit and a branded cassette unit (local tape units don't cut it) and also pair it with ur pc (optional)

2b is when you are short on cash, yet want a better than moderate compo based system, so you take the difficult path, and build up your own amp and speakers using off-the-shelp components and pair em with a CD unit, tape unit and your PC (optional)

2a, and 2b (a lot more so) will require you to spend a lot of time chooisng the right components and parts...

As for the results, All i'd say is once this project was done, I packed up my old Sony (3300 ?? W PMPo system out of the window...alright , not outta the window, but it is currenlty lying in the attic gathering dust :P )

I don't know much about this stuff.

How about you tell me what 2a entails, and how 2b differs from it? If it seems easy enuf, I might do it. Remember, I have to convince my financiers about this course of action (probably will have to go with a hifi in the end, not that I mind that too much)
