if using/plannig to buy intel LGA775 CPU, G45/P45 chipset supports 6 sata ports.
otherwise you can install a pci/pci-e card to include additional sata ports.

most of the current gen Full ATX boards come with 6 sata 3gbps ports.

AMD 785G 790GX, any decent Full ATX board shall offer you 6 sata ports.

most of these boards will cost below 6k.

or if you want a solution without onboard display.

MSI 770T-C45 will give you 6x sata 3gbps for less than 3.5k

the board comes with all solid caps, it is DDR2 based board but that shall not matter.

the picture online everywhere for that board is with red pcb, go to closest market asn ask for the board, the rev2 comes with black pcb and all solid caps.

price was 3.5k 4months ago so assuming it would be atleast same if not less.

if onboard gfx is a must then biostar TA785GE shall serve you well. good board with solid caps for vrm (TA785G3 if you want DDR3)

Thanks all, came to know that PCI cards will solve the problem but, i am installing internal hard disks, they how could i connect them ? , bcoz the cables would be hanging outside the cabinet.

thanks for your suggestion, but if i connect all my hard disks to all the 6 sata ports available, where will i connect my DVD Drive,

if you connect the HDD through a PCI card, then you won`t get the 3gbps speed.
[Correct me if i am wrong]

U said about maintaining data, i would have gone for external drives, like 2GB WD mybook series, get 5 of them hook to usb ports, its great.

I don't think PCI Express Card would be a bottle neck here. Even PCI Express x1 has more than 3gbps available bandwidth.

well I have 4 sata ports and 1 esata port on the mobo. so RAID0 takes 2 ports and RAID1 takes 2 ports so my sata DVDRW goes into the esata port... working fine here since last 1 year.

regards...

try getting a ide dvd-drive then.

^^ arre his main concern was regarding pci sata cards...

he was under impression that the sata ports will be on the card slot and accessible from outside the cabinet like other pci cards. (check post 7)

got to know that over pm and replied with proper pics.

i guess that would be cheapest for him over his current setup.

i have seen somebody use raid with PCI card (raid controller or something) and all the wires were inside, I guess the same setup should be available on a PCI Express as well.
