Hi guys,

I need a 780G mini-ATX mobo. I was thinking of a Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H. It has onboard DDR3 dedicated mem for the gfx card. But the NB runs hot, so do the rest of the gigabyte mobos :(

As I will be putting the mobo in a very small HTPC case with minimum ventilation, i need a mobo which runs cool. Price is not really a problem.

Thx for the help :)

go for Asus M3A78-EM

– AMD AM2+/AM2 Platform

– Support latest AMD Phenom ™ Quad-Core Processor

– Support CPU up to 140W

– Dual-Channel DDR2 -1066/800/667

– Instant Internet Access with Express Gate

– AMD Hybrid CrossFireX™ and DX10 Support

– 4+1 Phase Power Design

– DisplayPort Support

It has better power circuit (4 +1 phase) design and support quad core from AMD which the gigabyte mb u mentioned doesnot.

- no idea abt its price

- n don't confuse this with M3A78-EH ; thats a old one without proper support for quad or higher watt cpu (just like the gigabyte board)

Dude get the gigabyte ga-ma-78gm-s2h (rev 1.1) it has large NB and no heating issues with it...

The rev 1.0 had heating issues....

The buzz for HTPC these days is about the Intel G45 mini-itx motherboard. People are choosing it over the 780G because it does 7.1 channel LPCM over HDMI while the 780G does only stereo. However, there are certain issues regarding smooth Blu-Ray playback which are still being ironed out, so caveat emptor.

I've sprung for the J&W MINIX mini-itx motherboard which I am going to stuff into a tiny Aopen S120 case and powering it with a PicoPSU 120 DC-DC power supply. Damn, that thing is small!

I am hoping that the NB heatsink on the board will dissipate heat efficiently and the case fans will evacuate it fast.
