^^ Err, old is gold !
Also the D90 has the following advantages over the 550D
- Bigger/brighter Pentaprism viewfinder
- Better built body and arguably much better ergonomics
- Twin control dials (Probably the best reason to get the D90).
- ISO stops in 1/3rd stops compared to 1 stop as in the 550D. (In the D90, you get ISO values like ISO 320, ISO 640, ISO 1000 in addition to the normal 200, 400, 800, 1600).
- 11 AF points vs 9 AF points
- 4.5 fps vs 3.7 fps plus larger buffer
- RBG histogram vs plain histogram on the 550D
- Top LCD screen on the D90
- Automatic CA reduction vs no manual CA reduction
- More powerful built in flash (17 guide no vs 13 guide no)
- 850 shots per battery vs 440 shots per battery
The 550D in its favour has the following
- Slightly better screen
- Full HD video recording
- Higher MPs.
- Support for SDXC cards
- Lower price
So there you have a comparison between the two cameras.
Honestly I don't know why people compare the 550D favorably over the D90 when the advantages of the 550D are pretty insignificant.
The 18 MP vs 12 MP advantage is pretty useless without good glass and especially since most people post their pics on the Internet anyways.
Full HD recording is again not really noticeable unless viewed up close on a big TV screen.
SDHC cards go upto 32 GB and honestly I don't see too many people wanting that.
The only reason IMO to go for it is if you a) Want Canon lenses over Nikon lenses or b) You cannot afford the D90.
