In point and shoots, nikon pics look a bit dull and Sony too dynamic. I prefer lumix, canon or fujifilm.

Try looking for Sony HX50v - true ultra portable super zoom (30x optical) which gives excellent results. It should be available for 13-15k at croma/reliance stores.
