PC Peripherals Need a PC to work with CAD

Hello Guyz,

My Friend wants to buy a computer basically for using Auto CAD, other than that normal use like movies, Music. He dont want a graphics card so onboard graphics is enough. His budget is around 25k. So guyz tell me what to buy for him, also keeping in mind he is in remote area of tamil Nadu, so want a good config which will not cause him trouble.
 
A low end Intel System.

1.6 Ghz w/ an appropriate mobo)

512 mb ddr ram

80 gb hard disk

dvd-rom/cd-rw drive

17" Screen, samsung 793mb or sumthing.

This should come in 25k.
 
Guyz can ya tell me the motherboard which can go with Sempron 2800+ with onboard graphics.

Will this config good enough

AMD 64 2800+ skt 754 ----- 5050

Hynix 512Mb DDR -------- 2300

80 GB Seagate 7200rpm ---2500

Samsung SyncMaster 793S Monitor --Rs. 5,500

Sony CD -writer -----1350

Logitech KB+Mouse --850

Altec AVS200 ----500

Zebronics Cabinet + SMPS --1500

UPS --------------1800

This comes to around Rs.21350 without the motherboard, so suggest me a good motherboard with onboard video. Am i missing some thing in this. oh ya i forgot a modem i have no idea how much a 56k modem costs.

I agree with what Saiyan suggests, however get a combo drive instead of just a CD Writer. You can also consider a Sempron + Via solution instead of the socket 754 Athlon.
 
I'll get him a Sempron+Via+6200TC 128MB+a combo drive, is this ok. With the above config will one will be able to play half life 2 at minimum settings??
 
I can play Hl2 on my fx5200, so i think 6200 will play hl2 without any probs.

For the mobo get Asus K8v-Mx. It has onboard video also

Being an AutoCAD designer myself, I would say the 3 most important things for CAD is Graphics card, Memory and Processor. Graphics card can depend on whether your friend wants to do 3D or 2D CAD designing. For 3D, I would say you need atleast a Fx5200 for a decent performance, For 2D, best would be something like an GeForce Mx440 if you can get it. No compromise for memory, atleast 512MB DDR. Or else he will be waiting for hours to get a scene rendered in 3D. Celeron-NO,NO:no: . P4 2.8HT :eek:hyeah: . Motherboard based on 915 chipset is fine. Western Digital 80GB HDD-7200rpm- excellent. 350W SMPS is needed to handle the power hungry design stressed processor and graphics card. Hope this helps.:cool2:
 
Hmm, get atleast 512MB RAM, it'll ease out things a lot.

See if you get also fit in a 64-bit Sempron + K8N-E + 6200TC, all that he'll need and more ;)
 
any idea on the cost??

K8N-E is 5000 i think its difficult to fit in to the budget coz he needs an external TV Tuner Card which cost Rs.1300/-

4k-4.5k. K8N-E or any other boards based on VIA won't work with a 6200TC as all of them are AGP and 6200TC is PCI-E.

A better option is the MSI RS480-M2 and an A64 3000+. Decent video performance and you have an option of upgrading it to dual core and PCI-E video in the future.
