Graphic Cards Need advice ASAP!!!!

Been negotiating with dad a bit... :D ... Can the 8800gts fit on my board?? Good about 9" long isn't it?? And what about the psu?? will the 500w suffice?? or the 600w is minimum??

btw, I've got ASUS P5LD2-VM SE...
 
It isn't mainly the problem of the mobo it matters about the cabinet too

for the PSU a Powersafe500W will suffice
 
Get a PSU Locally... Powersafe 500w seems cool..

Other than that x1950pro all the way. Get the cheapest you can find.

Can I run the 8800 gts on my board with the powersafe 500w and the i-ball grabit??
 
If not the 8800gts, get the sapphire 1950XT. Amazing card (prices have dropped since i bought mine :( ) You can get a good 500W PSU for ~$50 there. Btw, exchange rate is roughly Rs.45

I totally agree with you but the customer reviews at newegg pointed out 2 things:

Firstly, it's vista performance sucks! I've got vista and want to keep it that way..

Secondly, Sapphire has a horrible reputation! Everyone's got some kind of complaint... may it be the sales or rebate... With my uncle living in the U.S and coming down max once in 1-2 years, cant afford that... ATI has got some cards there but I want to keep it in the 150-160$ range.. No point spending 200$ right now.

What say?

Here is the Vista Score for my setup .... the 8800 GTS gets a 5.9 ....I get a low score for the CPU as I run a AMD 939 3000+ Venice at stock speed :(
 
Since you don't game that much, buy the X1950Pro.

Then maybe in 2008 upgrade to a $200 dx10 card as the games also will take some time.

If you can fit in the 8800GTS+PSU in your budget then go for it although i think your cabinet may have a problem.Not sure

Here's mine... e6300 gets me a 4.9:hap2:

Scoring 0.1 more on the hard disk?!:P



But seriously, why is the graphics score low?? due to only 320 mb on card??

You know if the reason you'r not going for the 8800 is the length, then forget the 1950pro/xt out too. If im not wrong, they are 9 inches as well (same as the 8800). You can do what Ambar said, go for cheap stuff now, upgrade next year(though dont expect great returns on the stuff u buy now).

Dont completely go by the Customer Reviews man. Most of those guys suck and dunno what they'r talking about. I have the Sapphire 1950XT. Its a superb card. Don't worry nothing will go wrong as such (yeah i had that feeling too the first time). And you personally dont have to worry about problems such as "sales" and "rebate".
 
$200 for PSU = 8.8k here

Corsair HX620W = 6.9k+ shipping here mostly in Kolkata (confirming tomorrow)

so why not buy Corsair HX620W?

Man, 200$ outta my budget!!! Going to stick with the Powersafe 500w locally...
 
dude, set aside one third of the cost of your graphics card (US price) for your psu.....atleast get a decent 500W psu...
 
Honestly, siddharth,

Try to get at 8800GTS 320mb if you can. You wont regret it. Specially if your not going to upgrade for some time to come.

300$ spent once, but spent well.

I had bought my X800XL for 300$ from the US, in July 2005. Its still serving me quite well. One of my BEST buys, for sure.

8800GTS 320mb on a 500W Powersafe is cool. The PSU will handle the load easily.

Thanks a lot for the advice... Spoke with my uncle today. Ordered the following-

EVGA 7900gs - 8800 gts is really outta my budget.. Heard they have an upgrade scheme too so maybe in my uncle's next trip ( after a year or so:( ) exchange it with an 8 (or 9 :P ) series card.

Since I was saving some money here, ordered a pair of headphones too :ohyeah: My cousin's got the same ones too... Love them..

Now the only thing left is the PSU... Now, please anyone can tell me what does 20+4 pin setup mean??

Secondly, my mind is stuck on the Powersafe 500w.. Can anyone tell me a shop in Pune where I can get it from?? Fed up of this place, not even a single decent shop (haven't found one yet.. :@ )

Thirdly, the PSU is more than enough for my rig right? Going to add another hard drive soon...
